Our hospice is much more than just a building – we are a ‘hospice without walls’, giving people choice and reaching out to them in their preferred place of care.
The number of patients who want to receive our care in the comfort of their own home continues to grow year on year, while our teams are also there for those with the most complex needs on the wards at Derriford and at our specialist unit at Turnchapel.
Your support helps us be there for them.

Cheers and thank you to Le Vignoble Plymouth and Smarta Reductions for their wonderful support for St Luke’s.
They came together to run a World Cup sweepstake, selling tickets to local businesses, and raised £640 towards the compassionate care our nurses provide across the community.
Top prize of £100-worth of wine from Le Vignoble was kindly sponsored by Smarta Reductions - Ben Hinchcliffe of Base Concepts being the lucky winner.
... Our photo shows Yannick Louie of Le Vignoble and Alice of Smart Reductions. Our thanks also go to Alice’s colleague, Joedy Lawrence.

Sadly, we’re seeing an increase in the number of young families who need our care and support.
That’s why we have a dedicated Support Worker, who comes alongside them at such a difficult time.
We know that communicating openly and sensitively with young children facing the loss of a parent is so important. It helps them at a time when they can be feeling fearful, and also helps them come to terms with their loss in the long term.
... Our Patches programme is kindly sponsored by the Morrison's Foundation.

Our staff and volunteers are at the heart of St Luke's. They work in an environment some may find challenging, to ensure everybody in our community has the support and compassionate care they need when facing a terminal illness.
With Plymouth basking in the Summer heatwave, our senior managers took time out to say thank you to the staff and volunteers with a welcome ice cream supplied by our generous friends @Morrisons #Plymstock.

You looked after my Grandad for care at home before he passed. Your staff were friendly and so caring. You made him as comfortable as possible at the end of his life. We will always be thankful for that. We recently got married and as our wedding favours we ordered your lottery tickets for each guest. We put them in envelopes with a nice poem and one of our guests was a lucky winner of £1,000. We were over the moon that someone had won from our wedding. Would recommend ordering these from the Plympton base and putting something back into an amazing, local charity. Thank you so much. Emily and Matt x

St. Luke's is a wonderful place, it's more like a large home for those who need special care nursing for their specific needs with the right medication. It's warm friendly and you feel like your being hugged by all who work there. They are the Angels who look after you at the end of life. Will never be able to thank them enough for what they did for my Mike.

Our dear Son, Brother, and Brother-in-law, Martin Kitteridge, very recently passed away in St.Lukes. He always felt incredibly safe and cared for there, thanks to the truly wonderful staff and volunteers. Each time we had to leave him to go home we were always comforted by the fact that you all at St.Lukes were looking after him. In his final days and hours you took the time to explain, reassure and answer our questions. This made a heartbreaking and truly distressing situation more "bearable". Thank you. We were always so very grateful to you and always will be.

User

My step-father, the most wonderful man, lost his fight against cancer yesterday at home. His final days were peaceful and full of love, dignity, compassion and concern, all because of the St Luke's team we were assigned. They have had such an impact on the entire family, and they make me want to be a better person. I will never be able to thank the team here in Plymouth enough, I hope they see this and recognise themselves from this description. They made us feel as though we were their only concern - and the feeling of peace we now have has been possible because of what they did for our much loved one. What a gift they were and have. Thank you Karen, Suzie, Tracey, Sara, Sinead and colleagues - please forgive me for not listing all those we had the pleasure to welcome into our home xxx

Fabulous staff. Caring and genuinely friendly. Lee, my nephew, was happy here, even though he knew he wouldn't be leaving the way he had wanted. A relaxing atmosphere with people he could relate to. Lee loved the pond with the Koi Carp. He had wanted to name each fish but, sadly, his time ran out.

Thank you to all the staff who made Lee's stay more bearable.
