Beautiful, peaceful, breathtaking, tranquil are just some of the words people have used to describe our hospice gardens. We’re so fortunate to have the wonderful gardens and grounds at St Richard’s which we know our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers enjoy and boost feelings of well being.
To celebrate the National Garden Scheme Gardens and Health Week we thought we'd bring the garden to you with some photos from across the seasons. 🌳🌷 Find out more about the week: www.ngs.org.uk/gardens-and-health-week

We had a great time launching the Men's Space 2019 calendar this afternoon!
The Men’s Space support group – which is part of St Richard’s – created the calendar to highlight the importance of the group.
The calendar – which will be available from hospice shops for £7.50 as well as from the group’s members – reflect some of the activities they enjoy as well as revealing the fun, comradeship and support they give each other.
... Thank you to everyone involved in creating this calendar, including photographers Jayne Winter, ARPS and Rose Finch LRPS.

Do you have small value holdings of shares? Small amounts of shares are often difficult or even impossible to dispose of because of the costs involved. St Richard’s works with ShareGift to provide a solution. Even if you have just one or two shares ShareGift can help you deal with the problem, and in a charitable way. ShareGift realises as much value as possible from unwanted shares by aggregating them, selling them and using the proceeds to make donations to a wide range of... other registered charities. Due to our supporters generosity of gifting shares via ShareGift in 2017/18 St Richard’s received a donation for £10,000 – proving every small contribution really does help.
We can also help shareholders with larger, tax-efficient donations of shares and transfer shares from an estate.
If you would like further information or a donation form please contact Tricia Cavell, Fundraising Director, St Richards hospice tcavell@strichards.org.uk

You are all amazing beautiful people not only caring for the patients but their family and friends too which you do unconditionally, I wonder if you really know how special you are? From the moment you walk through the door there is someone keeping a silent eye on you knowing exactly when to take your hand. I feel truly blessed meeting each of you as although it is was an unbearable heartbreaking situation I can put one foot infront of the other. I will never forget what you have done, not only for dad but mom, my sister and her family and me!

When grandad was admitted last Sunday after help from palliative care at the hospital,it was as if a weight had been lifted... I had stayed with him alongside my family for 3 days night and day in hospital. From the very first few moments in the Hospice, I just knew grandad would have a very peaceful and dignified passing. I left to return home sadly on Sunday afternoon after saying goodbye, but I knew my mum and aunt would be supported and grandad would receive wonderful care. Sadly he did pass yesterday morning, and my mum and aunt confirmed that the care grandad and the support they as family received was fantastic. On behalf of the family, I would like to thank all staff at the hospice for his outstanding care and attention and the kindness towards my mum and aunt. Grandad had a very peaceful and dignified passing. Thank you so much .

Such an amazing place. My nanny was cared for so well here in the last weeks of her life. Nothing was ever to much trouble, and was so lovely to see how much each and everyone of you care for your patients so deeply. The care itself provided at st Richards hospice is outstanding and I couldn't fault a thing. Thank you so much for being so kind, patient, helpful and caring for my nanny in the last weeks of her life, and I know she will be forever grateful for everything you done for her. Thank you for the care and support you also provided for our family. Your all special people for doing such an amazing job and we will never forget that. X

St Richards Hospice is the most beautiful place I've ever been to, from the moment we stepped through their door they enveloped not only Emma but me and her dad with such love, care and compassion and everybody from Drs to cleaning ladies had smiles, kind words and best of all time to talk to us. Emma loved her short time there. Through the worst days of our lives they held our hands and gently guided us through every step words can't express my gratitude to all at St Richards I'm so so happy Emma was there for her final journey

My wonderful gorgeous husband Rod passed away on 25th feb 2016 in this amazing place from a second brain tumour , we had been together 23 years and married for 19 ,we had 2 kids , he was only 48 and my world collapsed . He was the love of my life - Hed been fighting it for 3 years and in the last month of his life he could no longer walk, talk , or do anything for himself , i was nursing him 24-7 at home on my own , St Richards hospice home care team came in to help and i cant thank them enough , they were a breath of fresh air every morning and a huge help, he was only in the hospice 10 days before he passed but in that short time i realised just how special this place is and i am eternally grateful for the wonderful caring people who dedicate themselves to helping people whos worlds are imploding to make things just that little more bearable .

Forever thankful to you all x

My wife's treatment was second to none and the level of care and compassion ...well I have no words that are sufficient to describe such excellent treatment. They even telephoned me to make sure that my daughter and I were at her bedside when she died. Their care did not stop at point and they looked after her remains with great dignity and care so that my daughter could say a final goodbye to her mum. They then looked after my daughter and me with the same level of care ensuring we understood what would happen in the next couple of days and that I was safe to drive back home. Nothing was too much trouble for the nursing staff on duty that night and I will never forget their selfless approach to the care of the dying - so rare these days.

My husband passed away the end of October after being in the hospice for 5 weeks. I can remember him really enjoying the baths he was given, also some of the food and being very well looked after. Unfortunately he didn’t get to come home for the couple of hours he wanted but the staff were amazing trying to help him in the wheelchair. The last few days before he died staff took time to sit with me and explain things which I really did appreciate. We have a 7 year old and 2 year old boy and still continuing to receive support from this great place. Thank you so much x

User

I would like to say how grateful I am to Jenny my Bereavement Counsellor for the last three months. Having suffered the sudden loss of my beloved brother I have been able to speak frankly and frequently to someone who really understood how I was feeling. Jenny helped me to think positively by suggesting a number of ways in which I could feel better about myself and the situation. It was a great comfort to know that Jenny would always be waiting for me, ready to listen so sympathetically. I shall never forget her. <3 <3 <3 Thank you very much Jenny <3 <3 <3
