Wow, I absolutely love this place. A beautiful country pub, beautifully furnished, excellent food and service. The vegan menu available this week is top notch. The lentil shepherds pie is one of the best I've ever had, would be fantastic if this could be a permanent fixture. Thank you for a lovely evening, will be returning soon .

Two nights on the trot, spent with friends and family. Loving the new restaurant and the dishes on the new menu. Tried the mackerel and cod coquettes followed by the chicken ham and leek pie on Wednesday night and had the calamari followed by the cod loin with broccoli and crushed potatoes - I don’t usually enjoy fish out but this was outstanding. Service top class thank you Rebecca and Dan.

Today we celebrated our Nan and Grandad's 60th wedding anniversary! The service was second to none and the food was fantastic! My Nan and Grand would like to say a special thank you to Rebecca and the staff for going the extra mile and all of the kindness and help shown. Thank you

There was 4 adults on our table. 3 meat eaters a me, a veggie for 30 years.

We all agreed the food was excellent. I had a vegan pie which was delicous. I also had a vegan pud- local parkin cake with vegan ice cream and vegan pouring cream which was more-ish.

I totally recomend the Stafford arms for anyone. We will be returning soon .

Lovely meal for a family birthday event. Really nice Sunday roast for half the party, and great choice for the rest. We will be back on Mothers Day 😊

Found out via FB that they were starting to do breakfasts at the wee-ends. Serving from 9.30 until 12 (last orders11.30). We were the first customers and with a warm welcome sat down. The feel of the room, with a new extension and decorated to a high standard, was airy and light (I like to see the food I am eating!). I had a full English and hubby had a breakfast stack ... it was freshly cooked and hot (also how I like it!) Nice cup of tea to finish off. This is now our favourite eatery for breakfast ... and we eat out alot. Also a bonus is the 10% discount loyalty card for members ... get one, you won't be disappointed in any food on their menus.

Absolutely fantastic - food, service, staff & of course the England result today! Thanks - will surely come again soon!

Starters were delicious. I had chicken liver parfait and my partner had sweet potato and coconut soup with chilli and curried onion. I tasted it and it was lovely. We supposedly had roast topside of beef for our mains, but the meat was disappointing. A bit fatty and stringy which let the experience down. I doubt it was topside. We will go again though and see if the meat is any better next time.

A friendly welcome and Plum Porter on tap are always a good prelude to a meal.

Starters were excellent; Duck and Chicken Liver Parfait, with a Home-made Spiced Carrot Ketchup and Toasted Ciabatta - Salad of Whipped Goats Cheese, Parma Ham and Beetroot, garnished with Walnut and Raisin Artisan Bread.

I appreciate a varied and innovative menu with some pub classics thrown in and The Stafford Arms did not disappoint.

Mains were very tasty too, but the otherwise excellent vegan pie was let down by, what often seems, the inevitable, detacheable and fragile, puff pastry top, which was a shame as the Creamy Leeks, Butternut Squash and Walnut filling deserved at least a shortcrust. A welcome change also to have a really good vegan option.

The steak was tender, tasty and perfectly cooked, but the chips disappointed and were, we suspected, frozen in origin.

Don't sell yourselves short, lose any mass produced elements and the food will truly shine!

I will definitely be returning to sample more from the menu and the lure of Plum Porter is always irresistable.

Well done Stafford Arms!

Was really looking forward to our meal but felt quite disappointed. Chose from the “2 for £12.95” menu and for that price my meal was satisfactory but certainly nothing special. Chicken ham and leek pie was OK but nothing to shout about. I ordered a drink at the table but it never materialised, I told the waitress who in fairness was v apologetic and said she would knock 10% of our overall bill but she only knocked 10% of the drinks bill and as I never had a drink anyway seemed a bit pointless. The service could have been a lot better. Restaurant was very pleasant and the decor is fab but won’t be rushing back for another visit.

User

The service was excellent the food v good apart from the chips I expected better than "white chips" which were obviously of the frozen form not very ll cooked. If they're were cooked in a very hot oil from frozen they would have come out much better !!!
