Staffordshire Stick Maker

Cant post my latest finished walking stick just yet as its got to be kept a secret for now. So heres a preview at the next one i have started. Still a bit of work to do but the initial shape is coming along nicely. #staffordshirestickmaker

My latest walking stick i made has now arrived to its new home. It was ordered as a birthday present for Tony's birthday. A custom walking stick of a red and white Border Collie that i finished off last week. Really enjoyed painting this one. Carved from Lime wood and mounted to a Hazel shank. It has been handpainted using acrylics. Iv put a few progress photos on this post also so that you can see some of the various stages throughout the carving and painting. Here is a stick with a Westie head on which i carved and painted just before Christmas. It is mounted on a Hazel shank and painted using Acrylics. In the last photo you can see it about a third the way through the carving process. At this point it was still quite rough until everything took its shape. Heres a few different angles of a recent hand carved and hand painted Labradoodle walking stick, this one was a large golden curly Labradoodle i also did a Chocolate flat fur one at the same time which you can see in my other posts. Getting the rough fur texture right was a bit tricky. Painting was the easiest part of this project, if the carving detail is right and nice and sharp it makes the painting a hell of a lot easier. Here is a few different shots of a recently hand carved and hand painted Epagneul de Pont-Audemer walking stick. Really enjoyed carving this one. It was a real challenge to get it looking right and took a lot longer than i had first planned but still im very happy with how it turned out. Been working away on these walking stick tops just lately. All carved from Lime wood. Next stage will be fur detail. Then i will select some good strong seasoned and straightened sticks to fix them onto before painting begins.
