Over an emergency need while on bike journey we have got at this shop where the problem has been fearly sorted at their best capability. Once the bike was back on track no payment has been requested but just a small donation.

Perfect service on my full-susser, fit me in the next day, bike ready in couple of days even after waiting for parts to be delivered. Bike after service feels *better* than new it's amazing. Money well spent, also they were patient in explaining what was wrong with different bits and talked me through upgrade options that I asked about without upselling. Will continue to use this place as long as I live close enough.

Visited Stanley Fearn's after another well known high end bike chain had serviced my bike in the process introducing play into the rear suspension which had not been there before and they claimed was a manufacturer 'design error'. I contacted Marin who advised to go to their nearest agent who turned out to be Stanley Fearn's, having being burned by the previous bike shop I was feeling a little apprehensive. I called Stanley Fearn's who discussed the issues with me over the phone in a very calm and confident manner, their experience and knowledge immediately obvious from the questions they asked and they recommended I took the bike in for them to look at. First impressions of the shop is that its a very traditional, old school place but that carries straight through into their knowledge, experience and desire to provide high quality advice and servicing. Andrew checked the bike over, agreed it was definitely not right but was very confident they would be able to resolve the issue, once again chatting to him it was obvious that he had a huge amount of knowledge and history with these type of suspension systems, the manufacturers and the supporting people in the industry. Left the bike with him and 24hrs later got a call to say it was all sorted, in addition they had picked up some other minor issues and were able to quickly sort these for me as well. On picking up the bike I met the mechanic, Howard, who talked me though what he'd found and what he'd done to rectify, again very clearly a huge amount of experience and knowledge. He'd personally taken the bike out for a couple of test rides to ensure everything was good and had even chased down and fixed a couple on very minor creaks to ensure it was in perfect condition. The bike rides like new now and I'm exceptionally pleased to have found such a great place to look after my bikes. I would certainly recommend to anyone - thanks again Andrew and Howard.

Without doubt the best bike shop in the area. Helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a surprisingly large range of spare parts, even obscure stuff. The repair service is excellent but if you fancy 'doing it yourself' the advice given is spot on. Contrary to some other reviews, I have never found them arrogant (perhaps a little dry at times) and never been overcharged. Be warned though, it's a bit like walking into Arkwrights shop from Open All Hours - retail theatre at it's best. I'd rather pay a bit extra here than buy cheaper on an internet site as I know they'll look after me. ;)

Brilliant place. I'd driven past it loads of times over the years and never been in. ( the building isn't very enticing to be honest) but I saw their website and really liked the style. And the staff turn out to be just like the website. really helpful and friendly.Only wish I'd discovered them sooner !

I hate coming to this shop. It actually gives me anxiety. If you don't ask your bike related question in exact, specific terms, you will be corrected, and you will be made to look like a fool. This is not a casual cyclist friendly shop. Unless you know anything and everything about bikes you will most likely get stared at, or mocked out the door. It's awful. So, thinking I'd be clever and call ahead this time to save the usual condescension, I ended up suffering the usual treatment.

I literally just came off the phone from the know-it-all owner, and the conversation went like this:

Me: "Hi there, I'm after a mountain bike seat without a pole"
Owner: "Well, they don't come with poles. It's only the child's bikes where the seats come without the poles attached. The adult one's never come with poles" - in tone that suggests I'm crazy for even suggesting that they might come with a pole.
Me: "Well good, I'm only after a seat"

Silence....... more silence....... aaaaand silence....

Me: "Well have you got a seat for sale?"
Owner: "Yes!!"

He could have just said "yes, we have seats for sale, with no poles, in between this price range" - but no, he had to try and make me feel like an ignorant fool first before answering my question.

To top it off, they're a total ripoff!! I went in to get my brake pads changed, and Ended up paying £50 quid for a load of extra services I didn't even ask for!!! this makes me want to grind my teeth down to a nub.

I wish there was another bike shop in Matlock!! I'd happily take all my business elsewhere were it not for the fact that being the only shop gives them a monopoly.

If you have the luxury of shopping elsewhere, I suggest you do, lest you get ripped off and talked to like dirt.
