Stepping Stones Day Nursery - Lingley Mere Description

The Personal Touch. . .
We understand and recognise the relationships and attachments that babies and young children have with significant adults is of crucial importance in their life. We therefore provide a caring and consistent team of practitioners and as a result your child will benefit from the close and caring interactions of familiar team members. Your child will develop in confidence, independence, have motivation and self fulfilment and develop a true love of learning.
We operate a key person system, which means your child will have a specific person who will be responsible for catering, nurturing and developing their individual needs. Your child’s key person will be the one who records and plans for your child and updates their learning journey and writes their progress checks (don’t worry we will discuss this in detail a bit later! ), supports them at pivotal times in their life such as, walking, weaning, toilet training and name writing etc, as well as the day to day care and attention you would expect.
Your child’s key person will be on hand at either the beginning or the end of the day to discuss your child’s day and all other relevant details. We will also have in place a co-key person system, so when your child’s key person in not at nursery, they have that secondary person who will adopt those same responsibilities.
All the team in your child’s base room will have a strong and significant relationship with your child and will be able to meet their day to day needs. You will quickly ease into nursery life developing relationships with all our team and in no time at all we will become your second home!

Babies have been exploring our community looking for shaded areas to play and explore using bridges and woodland. We found baby ducklings to sing to using animal sounds at the birds and other animals that we have been discovering in our books and song props at Nursery. Learning how to push and roll objects in different environments and looking at our family photographs in our family tree, please bring in family photos so that we can extend your babies communication recognising people that are special to us next week, we will look forward to hearing about your weekend, see you all next week.

This week preschool have shown an interest in shops, we turned the home corner into a shop and have looked at how to recognise 1p 10p up to £5.00 and how to count back to get change. We have written shopping lists and worked on letter formation. We have also explored the mud kitchen again, making soups, adding herbs and spices and adding different ingredients. We have added various things to the water and looked at different sized containers and shapes. We have also promoted risky play by doing obstacle courses and using the balance bike to ride across high planks. This week in Pre-toddlers we have been continuing with our interest of push and pulling objects. We have been using the bikes and walkers in the garden through an obstacle course to do this. Also been looking after the dolls. Using sponges to wash them. We have continued with our interest of using different tools to create marks with: crayons, chalks and white board markers. The children have also enjoyed posting items. This has been done through the use of dfferent shape sorters, the children have used the shapes and blocks to post through the holes on the sorters. The children have all done a card to take home to give to their daddy for fathers day. xxx

Today in preschool we have been very busy extending our learning. The children have shown a very strong interest in our mud kitchen by adding and combining various things, we have looked at photos of cakes, soups and dishes today and the children have used basil and food colourings to make these. We also piped 'chocolate icing' on cakes using mud! We have experimented whilst baking by smelling, weighing and stirring the ingrediens. Outside we have also been doing climbing and jumping as well as experimenting with water colours again :)
