Stepping Stones Preschool Playgroup is a friendly community playgroup based in the heart of Fordingbridge at the Avonway Community Centre Annexe. Children can come to us from the age of 2 and a half to 4 years old. They then from us go on to Reception Year at school. All Children are eligable for 15 hours free funding from the start of the term after their third birthday, this is claimed through us from the local authority. We are a registered charity and are committee run. We are Forest School registered and the Forest School Leader holds Forest School sessions on the grounds of the Fordingbridge Junior School. We have a team of 5 staff members, 4 which hold Level 3 qualifications and 1 with a level 5 Foundation Degree qualification, working towards her Bachelors Honour Degree. All of the staff have great experience working with children and we work with the parents /carers to provide a safe, happy, caring and stimulating environment to meet every child's needs. Our curriculum is developed around the Early Years Foundation Stage and we are supported by our local authority as well as being Ofsted registered.
Our sessions are as follows: Moring session: 9-12, Lunch Club: 12-13: 00 and Afternoon Session: 13: 00-16: 00. All sessions are flexible to suit the hours that you require.
Stepping Stones consists of three main areas, the main room which is the largest of the areas and has the book area, the role play area, self selection areas, mark making, investigation and exploration, Mathematical area, a physical area which can either include a climbing frame or soft play with the cube and triangle, there is a construction area and a malleable area. The second room is slightly smaller where lunch and snack take place, extended role play or construction may be there and we have a child friendly arts and crafts area. The third area is outside which has a playhouse for children to role play, there is plenty of room for physical activities and there is also small bikes and scootors to play on following the road that has been painted onto the playground. Sand and water is available outside and we also have a small natural small world area with grass and stones. There is a small swing and plant pots for children to plant flowers. The playground is set up everyday with different activities which reflect on all of the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Every child that attends will be assigned a keyperson who will follow and record their journey while at Stepping Stones.
