Saturday 15th Sept Strange Place presents
KOYO Celebrating one year since the release of their debut album as well as looking towards the future. Expect new material.
... KOYO are Huw Edwards (lead vocals, guitar), Jacob Price (sampling, synthesisers), Seb Knee-Wright (guitars), Dan Comlay (bass) and Tom Higham (drums).
Formed in Leeds in 2015, KOYO have fast become a major factor in the city’s burgeoning music scene. Tagged with the prog rock label, they are in fact proficient, reflective and utterly self-effacing, a far cry from the cape-wearing and wizard-hatted indulgence of your traditional progressive musicians. True, some of their songs are longer and they are well schooled in music – literally. But KOYO wear their versatility and charm very lightly indeed.
A powerful live force, KOYO create sonic spectacles through soaring layers of sound. They fill and transform space, create darkness and colour. Songs become extended improvisations, spontaneous expressions of emotion. KOYO are an unmatchable dynamic talent.

Here's a FREE ONE for you!
International songwriter Anna Pancaldi returns for summer 2018 with a new sound, a new album and a lot for her growing fanbase to be excited about.
Already established as one of the UK’s most promising new singer-songwriters, last years ‘Sweet Charity’ EP garnered overwhelming support from BBC 6 Music and Radio 2. Online, the tracks were picked up by Line of Best Fit, and featured on New Music Friday as well as a number of other official playlists, ...resulting in over 1.5 million streams on Spotify last year. All of this, fanning the flames of a lengthy UK tour including four sold out London shows.
The summer months have kept her busy as well, with live performances including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival. She’s also supported Prides, Hooverphonic, Bryde, Seafret, Jake Isaac on his European tour and most recently, John Mayer’s guitarist, David Ryan Harris.
Not one to limit her horizons, Anna has enjoyed success in both the UK and US, where she made her US live TV debut on CBS. Her music has also been featured on US show ‘Famous in Love’, a popular drama show on ABC Network. She’s also enjoyed an extended collaboration with Levi’s, for whom she penned a song for their Lot 700 jeans collection and featured in the accompanying advert. The expansion doesn’t stop there though, Anna is also one of few musicians that can boast her own brand of gin.

Friday 17th Sugar-Free Records & SMFB present:
GLOO "A Pathetic Youth’ is the vicious debut from punk trio Gloo. Every track is under four minutes long, but these brief encounters aren’t rushed or forgettable, they are moments that fill you with an infectious fervour for the duration that they’re around.
... From the offset, Gloo blast you with the certified beer-raising banger of ‘Holiday’, that delves into the stomping ‘No Shit Sally’ that recalls Slaves’ debut but with the guttural hardcore turned up a notch." - Upset (★★★★)
+ Support from Sit Down + Scab Hand + GLOVE

Magic Potion - PNKSLM Recordings Stockholm trio Magic Potion - vocalist/guitarist Gustaf Montelius, bassist Kristoffer Byström and Andreas Sandberg on drums - burst out of nowhere with their debut track “Deep Web” earlier this year. Warped out slacker pop of the best kind, recorded on an old reel-to-reel and produced by the band itself, “Deep Web” instantly blew away bloggers around the world.
The band was the perfect match for Stockholm's PNKSLM Recordings (home to Les Big Byrd, Sudakistan, HOLY, Lucern Raze) and their debut EP Melt is due on June 1st, with cult UK indie label Beech Coma releasing the EP as a cassette + cassette/t-shirt bundle as well. Preceding the EP is lead single “Booored", which is premiering today at Noisey.

I love this night club the staff here are amazing

User

I usually have an alright time in Sticky Mike's. Saw a few bands in there downstairs venue, which were ace especially Dog is Dead and Creeping Jean. Though they ought to have an indie night on and not just upstairs, you're packed in like sardines and there's no room to dance! Also If you're young or around the age of 21 I wouldn't recommend their Brit Pop night 'Starshaped', we're about 20 years too young to know any of the obscure songs they play. It was like party for one (The DJ). They played maybe one Blur song and one Pulp song that were recognisable- so disappointing!! We even preferred the free 'Good Pop, Bad Pop' night on upstairs and thats saying something.

User

The security guard made us feel uncomfortable the entire night, kept watching us like a hawk and threatened to kick us out despite the fact we were stone cold sober and not doing anything wrong. Paid £6 entry and drinks were bare £££

User

Great music venue but I brought a pint of Red Stripe and it smelt and tasted off . I asked to change it but the guy behind the bar tasted it and said it was ok . It wasn’t at all and as I brought it you would of thought he’d change for me but he didn’t so I won’t be drinking in there again . All staff were a bit dull and rude .
