About Stillpoint Spaces London

At Stillpoint Spaces London, we are exploring psychology, in depth, inside and outside the consulting room.

Stillpoint Spaces London Description

At Stillpoint Spaces London we are exploring psychology, in depth, inside and outside the consultation room. Our organisation was founded by psychotherapists who were keen to bring psychotherapeutic thinking into the 21st century by applying ideas from the clinic to culture. We are creating an international community of psychologically curious individuals through our city venues and online platform. In London, we promote ideas from psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, and psychoanalysis through our events, our handsomely appointed consulting rooms availabe to qualified therapists, and our innovative "open source" psychology co-working hub open to psychologically minded individuals.

We are open to both clinicians and the psychologically curious offering work spaces for both, alongside community building through our programme of events and workshops. Drop by for a visit!

Our friends at Aashna are looking for therapists and supervisors who would like to join their new project Aashna+, an initiative that will provide a longer-term, low-cost service for people from marginalised groups who may otherwise struggle to access therapy. Aashna+ will also support therapists to develop a practice that is sensitive to difference and the implications of existing power structures in therapy and beyond. More info and how to apply:

We thought this was an interesting post to share with followers of our page. It invites questions from the client's perspective of how much of a psychotherapist is about technique, and how much is about being human. Therapists have to occupy a space that is both professionally boundaried and authentically human. While dogmatic attachment to received boundaries can be harmful, keeping the frame is essential.
Each manage this balance a different way. Being human, however, thera...pists will naturally disappoint their clients at times. Working honestly and humanely with the disappointments that arise is an essential aspect of ethically grounded and psychologically productive therapeutic practice.
We'd love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments section below.

Trigger warning #tw
Brave & important report of terrible injustice that our colleague Bonny Turner, like many others, endured after she was raped, even though the perpetrator confessed in writing. https://buff.ly/2VMxUy5 #MeToo #RapeDecriminalised

"Soul is an action of the body. It is a verb: ’to soul’. The body souls, just as it runs, cries or laughs. The neurons between your ears are the body, and their concert, the soul, is the action of a magnificent molecular machine." - Dr. Gus Lott.
In our final live supervision session, we will consider ‘souling’ as a frame for what may embody in the therapeutic dyad, and by extension, the supervisory relationship.

Since joining I’ve written several things for writing courses, and three articles which were published online. The group is a really mutually supportive space, I love that there are no phones, and that I’m not as influenced by what’s to be found on the internet while writing. The mindful induction at the start of each session helps with grounding and eschewing the worries of the day, creating focus and calm. I highly recommend the group to people who write sometimes but can’t make time regularly - expect three hours of blissful, focussed me-time. - Josina Calliste, writing group member.
