Went on Saturday the 1st April , waitress was Jess , food was good , service was good , only waited 20 mins for a table even though it was really busy , was informed straight away what wasn't available on the menu , only 2 things , will defiantly be going back .

User

Visited tonight about 8pm .

Was seated almost immediately and given the option of 2 tables by the server Jess

We had a 40% off mains voucher and was informed that there was a few items unavailable.

We both ordered a drink along with the chicken curry . The meal didn't take too long even though the restaurant was still busy .

Our meal arrived and we was asked at least twice if we our meals where ok and if she could get anything for us . She did bring us a spoon so we could finish off our curry.

I was that happy with our server Jess that I spoke to a guy who appeared to be running shift on our way out

Visited on July 6th after attending Haydock Park. Stayed at Premier Inn so used The Stone Cross for Dinner and Breakfast. Had a steak for main course it was cooked to perfection followed be an ice cream sundae simply delicious. We were served by Alaina sorry for the spelling who was excellent. The only negative there did seem to be quite a lot of flies in the restaurant at both dinner and breakfast time, without this would definitely have been a 5 star rating.

I enjoyed my meal which was beef merlot pie, chips and veg. Pie was beautiful! The pub wa very homely and the staff were brilliant. Our waitress Jess makes me want to go back again. What a lovely girl and fantastic waitress! Thanks Jess xx

User

User

Went for a meal yesterday, was told no tables available in restaurant but it was empty, carpark was empty to, chose seat in bar area, ordered food, waited for an hour before asking where our meal was, was told it was on its way, food very disappointing, burnt, chewy steak, food thrown on plate with no garnish. Shame as used to be a lovely pub/restaurant

User

The continental buffet was ok and the cooked meal was very nice. I would suggest that the tea/coffee making facilities were disappointing. Pump flasks of coffee and hot water which were nearly always empty!

User

Hadn’t been for along time but we had 40% off vouchers. Food was lovely the young lady couldn’t do enough for us, got seated straight away BUT drinks expensive the place lacked atmosphere no fault of the chef or our waitress, didn’t save much with our vouchers. Wouldn’t be in a hurry to go again, sorry

User

the place was clean and the staff were friendly, however the food was awful. Extremely bland, mash potato was not creamy; it was dry and the green beans were like rubber and that was just my meal. The burgers were also tasteless no complaints from the children's popcorn chicken though.

User

not much choice, ordered Chicken Forestiere which has a mushroom sauce, sauce vinegary and had chunks of tinned mushrooms. which i dont like and for £11 i would have expected fresh mushrooms. husband had a burger with stilton and bacon, couldnt taste the stilton, Food wasnt very warm either. Will not be returning.

We haven't been for a while but feeling robbed tonight! Very overpriced for portion sizes and drinks outrageously costly. 2 courses and 2 drinks each. ..... £48! Lots of items from menu choice were exhausted. It will be even longer before we revisit if at all! Plates were hot but food was edibly warm. It used to be a real good value for money establishment. ....someone got greedy and it's a sorry shame. Pork was processed, thin and fatty and I'm still wondering where the apple sauce was hiding?!?!? Lots of tables left uncleared giving an immediate impression on entry of lacking in staff. I felt sorry for our waiter, he looked so harassed and miserable. If we were dishonest we could have got away without paying for £18 of drinks as they were not on the bill at all......complete omnishambles. Within 2 hours we were snacking on pizza at home. Sunday roast at home in future!

User

This place used to be amazing and in the past we have asked the server to compliment the chef.... However... We called in there last night and was so disappointed! I ordered lamb rump with crushed potatoes. The potatoes were stone cold, the lamb was like rubber and the portion really small. The tiny bowl of cauliflower cheese that came with it was microwaved to death and was tasteless. I had to steal chips off my wifes and granddaughters plate to help fill me. I was offered a free dessert or drink as an apology but being diabetic and a non - drinker I refused but there was no attempt to refund or even discount the meal otherwise.

My wife ordered a mixed grill... You can't go wrong with a mixed grill... Wrong! Hardly warm with charred steak, snotty egg and scraps of chips.

Sorry Stone Cross... You are off our 'places to eat' list now.

User

waitress was brilliant...food was "cash and carry" quality . Manager was flustered and rude. avoid

User

Was in yesterday never again. Was sitting watching news quietly when customer with bar woman's blessing just proceeded to rescan TV for football which was not on this TV anyway .so rude .went outside table crawling in woodworm bugs awful .I used to love this place it's gone down .

User

Visited for a drink and some starters as a nibble. Ordered nachos from the menu amongst over bits. The nachos where £5.99 and thrown together in a small dish. No melted cheese on them, guacamole looked like mushy peas and it was such a tiny portion for almost £6!! I was shocked at the lack of presentation in them!! And they where a complete let down! I took a picture but unable to apply it to this review!

I then when up the road to the travellers rest pub, and someone I know ordered their nachos. They looked delicious, melted cheese, beef chilli con carne, sour cream, guacamole and salsa! I took a picture of this in comparison. And these where priced at £6 also!!

I will not be returning to table table as it appears they would rather not put the effort in to ensure you come back as a customer! And I won’t be recommending anyone to come to this restaurant/pub either! Waste of money!

User

Not even worth the one after waiting nearly two hours for a table and food. Food was shocking won't be returning even with our 40% off vouchers.
