We always visit The Sloop when on the Isle of Wight, came over wednesday for a day trip and it was as good as always, Great value breakfast set us up for the day and after a day exploring we went back for dinner - again lovely hot fresh food well presented by friendly staff see you again soon !

User

Good food and drink at a great price ,lovely helpful staff and a relaxed cosy atmosphere

User

Fantastic carvery with lots of food, meat fell apart didn’t even need a knife to cut it was so soft and tender. Great staff and the chef was a real character which I also heard other patrons comment on .

Fantastic will eat there again all day long.

Can’t say how worth this is a pitstop when on the island.

User

1st time back after 18 months. Still a lovely carvery. Delicious & hot. Then had pot of tea & mini (huge) pudding. Freshly made Chocolate Orange Dough Balls with Icecream.

Would highly recommend.

User

Overall I was impressed with the food, good portion size for the money apart from the large coffee which was barly a small at best the food was nice and staff come across helpful and welcoming..wouldnt be my number 1 choice to go for a lunch of dinner but there's certainly worst places to go on the island. Best place for a carvery but a lot better places to get a Burger or pizza however I would recommend the Hen party Burger for the chicken lovers out there lol

User

Had a lovely meal there.

My husband had the steak and ale pie and I had a fantastic burger.

Love the way you customise the burgers to your taste and way. Also love the gadget they give you to let you know your burger is ready.

Freshly cooked by a lovely guy who was cheerful, friendly and efficient.

I had a pint of Coors to go with my American burger.

The rest of the help yourself food, fries, salad veg and sauces were plentiful and fresh.

The fries were really nicely cooked and hot.

The staff were friendly.

Would recommend a visit.

User

Great food, friendly staff and overall lovely place. I had Carvery and my husband had Fish & Chips both were really nice and great value for money.

User

First visit to this establishment for a 'light bite' was an enjoyable lunchtime experience yesterday, but, the 'light bite' turned into something a bit more substantial. The place was buzzing and clean, the staff very polite and accommodating, and the food excellent value and enjoyable. We returned for the 'light bite' yesterday evening, and again the place was busy, the food good, and the staff very pleasant. Definitely on the cards for a return visit.

User

Service was good but when our bar b q chicken calazone turned up we were hard pressed to find the bar b q sauce. Minimal chicken as well. As normal the large cappuccino’s were barely small ones and were lukewarm at best

User

Save your money and go elsewhere for food. The staff were good, shame that the once renowned carvery is so mediocre. Greasy, over cooked roast potatoes, soggy carrots, tasteless stuffing and cauliflower ‘cheese’ and tough meat. Fortunately we had a gift token to use up so wasn’t our hard earned money going to waste. Must do better Stonehouse.

User

Food delicious good value for

Money. Place is always rammed and difficult to get access to tables. The carvery always has a queue and the server is funny but can be annoying sometimes especially when your hungry. Not one of my favourite places to dine. But again value for money.

We came here to eat while on holiday in the local area. My husband and daughter wanted to try the pizzas only to be told that there was no pizza available; however when we were finishing our food, a man who came in after us suddenly appeared with a pizza....

On ordering desserts we were told that they were out of ice cream and so a lot of the desserts were not available to order.

The bar was very small in comparison for the size of the place and so there was always quite a queue. Although the staff we did see were as helpful as they could be in the circumstances, it was clear that the place was understaffed. There were tables which were dirty when we came in and were still dirty when we left.

Overall, our experience was underwhelming and it was not worth the money. The place needs more staff, a larger bar/food ordering area, and for the food which is on the menu to be in stock!

User

The staff were lovely. Like super lovely. Oliver I do believe his name was bless his heart had been there since 7:30am and myself and my family walked in at 7pm and he was there when we left. Cannot fault the staff. The food however. Though it was nice. I waited well over an hour for 3 pizzas and had a very grumpy 3 year old sister wanting her pizza. We had other places to be so once our pizza finally arrived I had to ask for takeaway boxes to have them later. Granted it was busy but the staff just seemed very overworked that day and understaffed for the shear amount of people in.

User

I found that as always with stone house carvery, wherever you go......... There veg is over cooked , potatoes are burned and not the least bit crispy.

There meat was ok, but very dry.......... I have two within a mile of me and both have gone down hill since this company took them over. Staff don't seem to care, when you speak to them. To give them a point out of ten - mine would be 4......!!!!!! Very poor....... The one on the isle white has a really nice settin, and I have eating here long before the changes, and it was lovely........

User

Disappointed, first time using Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery, ordered starters which were brilliant, we both ordered a pizza , hubbys was cold whilst mine was nice and hot. I ordered a premium pizza, Stonehouse Four Seasons, I might be a bit thick because I did not expect a pizza to be split into four seasons as that was not explained, and I couldn’t see the basil, one slice I tasted was much too salty and the whole pizza was not enjoyable. Very minimal staff, so had to eat our pizza with our starter plates and remains on the table. Bar person could have been more pleasant, no greeting, no smile etc (are we asking too much). Had a buzzer to let us know when to collect our pizza from the pizza counter, no member of staff there when I collected our pizzas (hope I collected the right ones), no one to explain the procedure to first time users. Probably won’t visit again.

User

Awful. arrived here yesterday to signs saying that only Turkey was available for the carvery which I guess couldn’t be helped but The veg was overcooked and tasteless; The cauliflower “cheese” was the worst I had ever tasted, no cheese was just like eating water; The Yorkshire pudding was chewy; The gravy tasted like it had been completely watered down. Used to enjoy coming here but the place is certainly going down hill.

User

Absolutely disgusted with the manager on duty tonight..... Went in for a family meal paid for carvery, went to get the carvery only to be told no turkey! Why weren't we told when we bought the tickets??? Asked for a refund from the manager and got attitude and he was only going to give a refund on food not drinks but in the end gave all the money back..... Please tell me why you have gone down hill since you've been taken over????

User

Not impressed at all watered down baked beans massively fatty bacon cheap sausages and awful coffee but staff very friendly and helpful nice location

User

Have always had a good experience here, at one point I'd of even said I loved it, recently since the takeover it has been very disappointing, the staff couldn't care less. Don't read the orders properly, stone cold food.

Although this isn't potentially the sloops fault, we had the chocolate fudge cake, and I myself discovered a piece of plastic whilst eating the cake.

Overall I wouldn't rate the place anymore. I think the management need to step there game up and start to sort the problems before they lose even more customers.

I'd also like to hear what the management have to say over the slap-dash efforts of the workforce.
