We loved cooking up a vegan festive feast this weekend for the Steamhaus xmas do. 🎄

We went to Stretford Canteen for the 1st time and it lived upto the reviews. All the dishes were fantastic with the Cheshire cheese platter, pork fillet and prosecco lavender jelly the stand-out dishes. Our 1st time and certainly not the last!

We went on the first night and were so impressed and I managed The Lime Tree Restaurant in West Didsbury for 10 years so I am a fussy customer! The whole meal was super tasty and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. I felt like I was in a Greek taverna but with much better food. The highlights of my meal were the roasted salmon with Syrian lentils and the homemade meringue with locally grown rhubarb compote and fresh cream. The rhubarb was beautifully spiced and it was the best dessert I have tasted for a long time! The side orders were served in lovely enamel tin dishes and were also super tasty, especially the chips! Highly recommended for a get together with friends, with the added bonus of being able to take your own favourite wine as it is BYO. I can't wait to go back :D

We had an amazing meal - I had sea bass and hubby had onglet steak for mains - both fantastic. The lemon tart desert was probably the nicest I've ever had. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This is the second time we've been to SC, and both times were amazing. We both chose things we wouldn't usually pick because we knew whatever we had would be delicious. The girls are just lovely and the vibe is so sick. Can't wait to see what the future holds! Thank you for an amazing time...again.

The dining area is only small so you will need to book in advance but the quality of the food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it to anyone.

So great to have a local place providing quality food. My mum was staying and it was lovely to be able to take her somewhere good in the area. I had the steak which was wonderful and a very generous portion for a small price. My mum had the pate followed by the salmon and was equally impressed!

Oh my gosh, what an amazing find, the ambiance and food were absolutely amazing! Had the trout pate and fresh hake with lentils, the hake was cooked to perfection , most delicious I've ever had. Stratford Canteen is not too be missed.

The food, the service, the place, the prosecco, the fact you can just actually walk to a lovely restaurant...

Can't recommend it enough and I hope the pop up continues in Stretford (but even if it didn't we'd just get a cab - it's that good!)

Had a delicious meal at the Stretford Canteen. Great menu - I much prefer to have a smaller selection but know it is all freshly prepared (especially if you are as indecisive as me!). Though we'll definitely be back to try the other options. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Was a revelation to be able to walk home afterwards. Thanks for bringing this to the local community - well needed.

Food was really good quality last night. I had pate for starter and the Guinea Foul as main. It was great value as well. Like the fact you bring your own drink and they accommodate that with ice bucket and glasses. Service friendly and efficient. We all agreed we will go again. Thank you.

First visit to the ''Stretford Canteen' last night (Sat). Hadn't booked but were very lucky that a table was leaving late in the evening. Food was really, really fabulous. Simple, unfussy, and good quality ingredients. Prices were extremely reasonable. Service was a bit chaotic but also charming in its own way! Atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. Will most definitely return.

Eventually made it to the Stratford canteen last night and had the best meal I'd eaten in a long time. Fantastic flavours, well cooked, perfect ambience and staff and VERY reasonable prices too. Go!!! Xx

Came across this restaurant last night after finding out there was a 90 mine wait at the Tapas place next door. After seeing their menu we thought we'd give them a try. I am very glad we did. Excellent meal! We were a table of four had 3 courses and loved every dish. Great staff and over all would recommend it to my friends.

Been meaning to get to Stretford Canteen for a while due to good reviews, and tonight we finally made it!

Lovely staff and great location, but the food...The Food!

He had pigs cheeks, I had poached pear and Stilton starters. Both fab.

We both had steak (because after all, it was supposedly better than Hawksmoor), sooooooo good! The lentils were inspired, and the new addition of dauphinoise potatoes to the menu were just lovely.

Puds = cheese and honey (who knew they were a perfect combo) and pear and custard tart, yum!

We will totally be back!!

Amazing 3 course meal - reasonable price, excellent quality food. The onglet steak is to die for! Great service with a smile. Will definitely be back. A great addition to Stretford and certainly gives Chorlton a run for its money!

Absolutely delicious. Finally a restaurant Stretford can be proud of! The steak we had was much better than one we had at a 'proper' steak restaurant - we will be back!
