I realise that however fond we all are of talking about the weather, most normal people don’t spend half their lives checking the long-term forecast, so it might come as a surprise to hear that in the midst of this sea of sunshine we’re expecting a storm on Sunday! These are the very happy cows belonging to Simon and Kate Oakley of Dreamers Farm in Somerset The raw Jersey milk, cream and yoghurt is sold at Stroud Green every Sunday; you can pre-order by emailing ed@stroudgreenmarket.com. The milk is also unhomogenised, and unlike almost all "whole milk" sold in shops, has none of the cream skimmed off the top. Therefore it's pretty rich, sweet and indulgent: more of a treat to drink a glass of this than to eat a ginger biscuit or even a square of millionaire's shortbread (nothing stopping you from having both of course). The apple harvest is long since over of course but these apples have been stored in the barns, each variety at a different temperature, and they're almost as good as when they were first picked. In fact sometimes they're better! certain varieties improve with keep and like bananas they can be harvested early in order to ripen slowly over time.
