Dr Em Temple-Malt and Paul Christie have been exploring whether using forum theatre to educate young people about healthy relationships is an effective way of discouraging young people from tolerating abusive behaviours in relationships. Read about our study here:

Some enthusiastic, in-depth and thoughtful contributions today. Day 3 of data collection for our Transforming unhealthy relationships in young people study with FE sociology students... they got to experience x2 performances, forum theatre and world cafe discussions! It’s been an excellent but exhausting week. Great to be doing interdisciplinary work with Paul Christie and his performing arts students on the community theatre module

I can’t emphasise enough how important partnership working is in order to maximise the difference you can make on social justice issues & tackling crime. Proud to be working with BSBT partners across the City led by the local authority to increase community cohesion & reduce race hate & extremism with Prof James Treadwell. Our talented UG students are supporting this work & will get to meet our partners in due course to present the data we’ve been collecting. This is a piccie of partners working together in Stoke & the view from our meeting today.

Today Prof James Treadwell & myself presented research proposals & information from James book ‘the rise of the far right’ to Baroness Williams, the Home Office & partners from across Stoke. Looking forward to sharing our research findings with the Home Office & local partners in the future with the fab team of students I’ve been working with on the race hate & extremism project. Our students have worked really hard on this project & it will be used to influence local & national approaches to reducing race hate.
