And the winner is...Jasmine! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Well done to Jasmine who won Youth Volunteer of the Year at the PCVS Peterborough Volunteer Awards.
Jasmine volunteers on our Inpatient Unit. She helps out on the ward with evening meals, and always has time to chat to patients and their friends and family and offer them a cup of tea.
She even volunteered for us on Christmas Day and helped to serve Christmas dinner to patients and unwrap presents. This meant rearranging Christmas dinner with... her family and having it on Christmas Eve instead.
A very deserving winner and a fantastic volunteer - congratulations!

A very special #ThankYouThursday to Toby and his sons Iacopo, Matteo and Oliver who visited the hospice recently to present us with an amazing donation of Β£4,800.
The donation was in memory of Toby's wife and the boys' mum Simonetta, who was cared for here at the hospice. They raised the money at Simonetta's memorial service, an event at Stamford Rugby Club and through a number of generous donations.
Thank you so much for your support πŸ’™

They've been going to events with the tractor to collect funds for us and have raised an amazing Β£1004.02. They came in to see us recently and are pictured with Lucy's sister, niece and husband.
A big well done and thank you to you all; what a brilliant and colourful idea.

We want to say a big #ThankYouThursday to Stuart, who had his head shaved in support of us and raised an amazing £740! 😊 Stuart had his head shaved surrounded by friends and his wife, Anne, at the Blackstones Sports and Social Club in Stamford. The shave was done by hairdresser Kelly Ireland.
Stuart said: β€œI was going to lose my hair through chemotherapy. I have taken too much care of my hair over the years, and I thought if I am going to lose it then it might as well be for a good cause.
β€œAll of my friends who sponsored me gathered together and there was lots of applause when my hair was shaved; it went down really well. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me – so far we have raised Β£742 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. It costs a lot to run the hospice every day and every little helps.”

User

thank you so much for the care you gave to my brother who passed away yesterday he only spent three days in your care but it was a brilliant place to end his days the staff are so lovely and caring the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful thank you so very much

User

What an amazing place. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the quality of care you gave my Dad in his last days. I will be forever grateful. Keep up the good work you guys are incredible. Love from the Thompsons.

User

We were pleased that my father (Bernard Mason) got to spend his final days at Thorpe Hall. He sadly passed away on the 12th October. It is truly an amazing place, with such caring people. Thank you so much for looking after him.

User

The place is special! The Hospice at home team are fab and when we entered the hospice we became family again. We already knew some faces and people are friendly. My Dad spent the last 11 days there settling into his journey to his final destination. The family were together for a peaceful end. Words cannot describe how great you all are! X

User

The last 2 weeks have been horrible. But it got better when my stepfather moved into the beautiful winter room. You not only took care of him, and helped him to communicate again, but you took care of my mum too. In fact, your still taking care of us, despite the fact we are no longer there. It's been a sad day today. But it would have been worse if you were not there. Thank you from the depths of my heart. X

User

Thank you all for the care and compassion that you showed my mum in her last days with you.You all go above and beyond with everything you do and I can't thank you enough for the care that you gave her xxx

User

Such a lovely place beautiful caring people. Thankyou for all you did for my Mum while she was in her final journey a special place always in my heart οΏ½

User

My mum spent the last fourteen days of her life with you. When she was transferred from the hospital to the hospice we were both scared about being there but within ten minutes we knew this was the best place for her to be and feel so glad that her last moments on this earth were in this beautiful space.

The staff and volunteers were all incredible and we will never forget the beautiful love and compassion shown to mum, but also far beyond that, the kindness and care shown to my whole family. At the saddest time of our lives we felt enveloped in an incredible circle of love and warmth, making things a little bit easier to bare, and we will never forget that.

User

My mum spent her last days with you at Thorpe hall last year and within minutes of being with you she finally looked comfortable and relaxed .

You were all so wonderful so caring and always on the ball, my mum was kept comfortable throughout and her every need was met . Not only that you were also attentive to myself and my family, right down to suggesting in mums last days when I was sleeping on the recliner in her room with my assistance dog, that I brought my pet dogs in too so that I was t rushing between home and Thorpe hall all day , I set up their crates in the corner of mums room and I’m sure it helped mum knowing they were there and I’m sure mum relaxed more knowing I wasn’t rushing about bless her, the dogs also helped comfort other visitors / relatives I was asked quite a lot if people could just walk one round the garden area for a few mins when things got too much for them or sometimes people just cane for a stroke and to chill out for a min.

Mums care was second to non, every single person at Thorpe Hall was so caring , mum had the best care possible right to the end, for that I’ll be forever grateful xx

User

My mum came to thorpe hall and for a while she thrived because the care and attention was second to none. I couldnt have wish for a better place for my mum to start her journey to heaven from. The staff are amazing such warmth in their smiles and heart. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was given from the heart. Thank you all so very much from the bottom of my heart and i will never forget any of you what you did and continue to do is truly amazing. You are all angels every one of you xx

User

My husband (Patrick Regan , Frank) spent his last few days in the hospice, care was second to none, nothing was too much trouble and gave him dignity and not just another number, and great support for family members also. It's now been 11 months since his passing and I can't thank you enough .

User

My Father passed away on Friday after spending 10 days in your wonderful care. We would rather still have him with us but his time had come and before coming to Thorpe Hall he suffered tremendous pain.Once he arrived there his pain was aliviated and he spent his last days pain free and being cared for with such tenderness and understanding that it made his passing so much easier for us. My Mum, myself and my sister were able to stay beside him both day and night and Thorpe Hall became our home for over a week. We cannot express our thanks to the staff both paid and the wonderful volunteers at this amazing place. My only wish would be that everyone who was as ill as my Father should be able to receive this excellent care, hopefully one day this will be possibe. I will be eternally grateful to everyone who allowed my Father to pass with dignity and to allow my Mum to be his wife again not his carer and for my sister, myself and the rest of my family to spend precious time with him. Thorpe Hall will always be in my heart.

User

I'd just like to thank each and everyone of you who looked after and cared for my husband for the past 6 weeks before the angels took him last Friday, you're all incredible people and it is indeed a very special place. You're all amazing! xx

User

First visit to Thorpe Hall to see a special lady in our family, hope to have a few more. She seemed so relaxed and comfortable in such lovely surroundings and it seems nothing is too much for the staff.

User

Amazing place, has in my opinion a 5 star golden care policy, my mum had a very short stay here but the time she was in the care of these amazing people it was amazing, I was always made to feel at home and at comfort at the hardest time of my life. I couldn't thank them enough.

User
