About Summerwood Community Garden
Clifton's first Community Garden
Summerwood Community Garden Description
Summerwood Community Garden was set up in 2007 by local community groups and volunteers. Following a successful lottery bid from the Local Food Grant it has officially become Clifton’s first Community Garden.
We provide a relaxing environment for local residents and community groups to grow fruit and vegetables in a fun and sociable way. We run a variety of workshops in organic fruit and vegetable growing, wildlife gardening and arts and crafts.
We also hold regular events to encourage people to get together and have fun. Many of our open days include apple pressing, plant and seed swaps and healthy cooking days.
We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities from basic horticulture to wildlife gardening and conservation.
We work with a number of local schools, day care centres, play and children centres, youth groups, older peoples groups and local residents. It is important to us that everyone has the opportunity to get involved which is why we ensure Summerwood Community Garden is accessible to the whole community.
Growing your own food guarantees healthy eating and exercise plus its good for the environment too!
Summerwood Community Garden is in Clifton about 5 miles south of Nottingham city centre. For more information please contact:
