Day 2 of the SALC home nations. Team Ireland lead after day 1. All still to play for. Conditions today less than pleasant with a strong ssw wind and ebb tide making it difficult for anglers and skippers a like.

On the way out for day 1 of the home Nations.

Day 1 of the SALC home nations competition in Weymouth. It was a breezy day practice yesterday with the welsh team and unfortunately a breezy day again today. Good luck to all and thanks for coming to Weymouth!

The action continues.......
A tough old time on the wrecks at the moment. There are a few fish around but my do you have to really fish for them.
A few nice Brill’s around with the odd decent Turbot. A nice few decent undulates along with Huss, Congers and decent Tope on the anchor. Bream action continues with plenty of action if that takes your fancy. The nicest thing has been the final arrival of a good few Mackerel! Finally! Fully booked for the remainder of this month. On...ly trip in July with spaces is the 10th July for Tope and Congers.
Thanks to all that keep supporting us! You are the greatest!

A few snaps of the latest happenings......
Not been easy to be honest. As can happen this time of year this past week has seen plenty of retched easterly wind, which as you know the saying goes...... however some good sport has been had. Pollack on the wrecks, one or two early plaice, plenty of little Turbot all returned to fight another day. The odd keeper amongst them and some really nice General fishing particularly for the blonde rays and spurdogs. Pollack to 15lb, Blondes to 23lb, Turbot to 8lb and Plaice to 3 1/2lb have been the better fish. Looking forward to loosing this chilly easterly and the season getting some consistency. As usual thanks to those that continue to come and support Weymouth. We all really appreciate it. Tight Lines!!!

After plenty of cancelations in the busiest March for bookings ever with only 3 days not booked it wasn’t until the third week that we managed to get out. Since then it has been nice to put a little run together and the outlook for early April looks promising so fingers crossed it continues.......
The fishing......
A lovely day inshore threw up some quality fish, spurdogs to 16lb, Blonde Rays to 25lb, small eyed Ray to 9lb, undulate Ray to 14lb. The remainder of trips have b...een wrecking targeting the Pollack.
Mixed results really, some days produced absolutely fantastic fishing. Plenty for everybody and decent sized up to 15lb. The next day small fish and not many of them the next the fishing turned back on again. That kind of sums it up really. Certainly some good fishing still to be had as can be seen in the pics.

Been nice to string a few trips together this week and make most of the favorable weather. Any day this time of year is a bonus, some fantastic Pollacking, with a superb stamp of fish. Average fish 10-12lb with very few under doubles. Not seen that for a few years. Best fish was a close run thing between Pete Knight and Michael “mind my nose” Elvy with a couple of crackers just over 18lb. It must be said though chaps it’s not a case of chucking any old life down on any old bi...t of line and they jump on. Those days are over. Everything you do needs to be right. Right line, Right length, Right lure, Right speed. For the future a bit of investment in some decent trace line is really going to help. Friday saw the first event in the Ray Evans species league. A great fun day inshore with plenty of species and superb weather. Fish landed included 50+ congers, blonde and undulate Ray, spurdogs, smoothound, whiting, poor cod, pout, dogs and cracking 3 beard rockling for Ray Barron.
The next Scheduled Trip’s with spaces are;
1st March Wrecking £75pp 4th March Wrecking £75pp 12th March Wrecking £75pp 18th March inshore £60pp 19th March Wrecking £75pp 28th March Wrecking £75pp
We also have a whole boat charter just come available for 11th June. Only day available between mid April and end of July don’t miss out.

As the sun sets on another season and festivities begin for many, may I take this opportunity to wish all customers old and new and to any visitors to Weymouth a very merry and fabulous Christmas and a prosperous and fish filled New Year. 2018 was not a straight forward year but 2019 looks to be one of the busiest yet with continued support from many regulars and some new faces too. May you all have a great time and catch some PB’s in 2019! Merry Christmas.🎄
Fish of the year for me was Niall TD fro Scotland with a 10lb+ Brill. Don’t see many like that these days!

Fantastic 3 days in the annual Weymouth conger comp.
As usual a great time with my usual team Supanova conger jammers! Bait was hard to come by at times (typical) fishing was crazy one minute and quiet the next. Team Supanova managed to land 181 eels over the three days. 96 day 1, 60 day 2 and 25 day 3 (day 3 was my fault!) over 1000 eels caught and released on barbless hooks by the 11 competing boats with only 10 fish bought back to the scales over the three days.
Day 1 winn...er was Nigel Mcloughlin fishing on Meerkat with a fish of 53lb
Day 2 winner was Will Smith fishing on Supanova with a fish of 63lb
Day 3 winner and Overall Champion for 2018 was Darren Axford fishing on Meerkat with a fish of 63lb 4oz
Well done to all competing anglers for a great event, Big pat on the back to all the fellow slippers and a massive thank you to all that do everything behind the scenes and sponsor the event so well. Namely Andy Alcock from Quayside fuel, Andy Selby and his team at Weymouth Angling Centre, the whole team at the sailors return and Paul Whittall for delivering a great presentation and speech.
Dates for next year 26th-28th August! Get booked in early For accommodation it’s bank holiday Monday!!
Bring on next year!!!

Yep the crazy busy continues, an absolutely amazing season weather wise....... lots of different trips completed with some great customers all leaving happy after their busy days and service received.
A couple of Channel islands trips completed, one will go down as one of the best Tope trips I’ve had. Not for numbers but size was superb. Day 1 we spent filling up with Mackerel on the Weymouth side to ensure we had enough bait for the week. A session on the anchor on the way ...over saw plenty of congers up to 50lb and a sprinkling of Ling. Day 2 and 3 was after the Tope on a few different marks. Some fished brilliantly some were completely Barron. Probably down to the mackerel being patchy alderney side. Anyway over those two days all the lads managed Tope over 55lb with the best going 64lb 8oz. All returned and all landed on barbless hooks.
The fishing in Weymouth has mainly focussed on the Bream around the reefs and wrecks. Fish to 4lb have been a common occurrence. Plenty of mackerel still around with great sport with Tope, Rays, Huss and conger on the reefs.
Weymouth recently held its First Turbot and Brill competition. Based on the best specimen we knew that a decent Brill would take the money. The guys were happy to stick with my plan of not trying for numbers and try to find a better fish which paid off in the end. We managed to take 1st and 3rd place overall. Josh Atkinson won it with a Brill of 5lb 1oz and James Atkinson was 3rd with a Turbot of 6lb 1oz. 2nd place went to another Supanova regular, John Sherman fishing on Amarissa with a nice Brill.
Weymouth Also recently held the European light line and species event. The target was congers! Plenty of eels for all competing boats over the two days, again in superb weather. Congratulations the Cliff Newbold for a great win. Cliff also managed biggest fish of the comp on 30lb braid, fishing on Al’s Spirit with an eel of 64lb.
Things coming up- weymouth 3 day conger comp, the 5 day WIBAC challenge, Weymouth Bream comp.
Only dates with spaces in August is 13th where we have 1 space
Tight lines all and keep supporting the best port in the country.

Crazy busy of late, Wrecking still remains a bit patchy but some cracking Pollack and a smattering of Cod when we hit it right. Bream fishing is improving day by day inshore, some cracking fish too. The odd decent Turbot and an amazing run of John Dory’s this year. We have now boated a dozen! Never seen so many in my life before let alone one season! Must be all this sunshine!!!

The Busy run continues, some beautiful fish of later. Things still don’t remain easy though, but been great to draw on some old techniques that have greatly improved our fishy fun.
With the arrival of the mackerel Tope fishing has been excellent on the smaller tides, Wrecking is improving but you must be very particular in how you fish with a bit of finesse the key. It’s certainly not pirk and muppets time. Cod are hard to come by but the odd one around both inshore and offsh...ore. Some stonking Pollack around now the May water is starting to disappear. A few cracking flatties too.
Notable catches of late;
Tope 42lb Huss 12lb Pollack 17lb Cod 17lb Turbot 16lb Brill 6lb
Unfortunately completely full for the remainder of June but a few spaces in July. Give us a shout if you fancy a nice day out.

A busy run of late, back to back Channel Island trips, weekends at home.
The fishing has been frustrating, one minute it shows flashes of brilliance and then you have to work bloody hard for a bite. The pics show there are some decent fish to be had, a bit of finesse in the gear, decent bait and presentation and drawing on a lot of historical memories of where things have happened when it has been tough before have helped. Wrecking has been patchy certainly for the cod. Yes some days you get a few but certainly not big numbers. A decent run of Pollack has certainly helped. The Bream has been good but some days you have to hunt for them. The islands have thrown up some Nice Turbot and Brill but allot of hours go into finding the decent ones. Persistence, positivity and effort are required but they are there to be had!!
