Super Structures Associates are a niche structural engineering firm, working with architects and construction companies to develop WOW building structures.

Super Structures Associates (SSA) was founded by Derek Mason as a niche structural engineering consultancy to develop structurally sound, economically viable ‘Wow’ building design for our clients.

Working with niche architects and construction firms, projects range from developing multi-million pound complexes, to consultancy for temporary works and bespoke residential homes.

It is our technical prowess for modern design – creating maximum space with clean lines – and our astute commercial acumen that results in saving clients time and money. We get involved in the creative process and work with the architect and client to reach the optimum design, and so bring a lot more to the project than just the structural calculations.

Our collaborative approach will identify the most important elements to a design and how the structure should look and feel for its purpose. Innovative techniques are then explored to produce the most economical and practical way to build it – in particular when looking at how to minimize the use of construction materials such as concrete.

With a rich portfolio of construction projects across a range of sectors including education, sports and leisure, as well as residential, convention is often challenged and new ideas brought to the table.

The precision and detail in our drawings makes each element easy to understand. We use three-dimensional (3D) modelling which enables clients to visualise their design. We engage with the entire team, to clearly explain what needs to happen, when and why.
