We had the Lamb board last night and it was fabulous!

Tremendous 3 course lunch. We loved it.

Popped in for lunch on Saturday to try the February lunch offer - really tasty food and the waitress was lovely! Definitely recommend :)

My husband and I booked the hotel for my mother and father-in-law's 60th wedding anniversary. With such a large party we had exclusive access to the whole of Merchants Restaurant for 3 hours.



All guests were invited for Champagne afternoon tea and given this was such a special occasion our expectations were high. My husband and I came into the restaurant earlier in the week to confirm all arrangements and the Deputy Manager reassured us that everything was in order.



When we arrived on Saturday the restaurant and tables had all been set out beautifully and we were able to decorate the room with some personalised items.



Guests were seated at tables in the Merchants Restaurant and whilst drinking our Champagne we were brought a range of sandwiches (vegetarian and non vegetarian), pastries, macaroons and fruit & plain scones with strawberry conserve and clotted cream.



After the afternoon tea our guests were able to mingle with each other in the attached bar or stay at their tables and chat.



All I can say is we all had a fabulous afternoon and your team did us very proud. The Restaurant Manager and Deputy Manager were on hand throughout the whole afternoon to oversee everything and nothing was too much trouble. Service was exceptional and the food was lovely, we had nothing but compliments from our guests, especially our guests of honour. A big thank you from me and Ian.

Me and my partner was there for Christmas day dinner can not fault anything about it. From the minute we walked in we was made to feel so welcome the staff was so friendly the food and drink so good we will most definitely return but this time a over night stay thank you.

Just tried the February lunch offer, fabulous moules and frites. Our server was lovely and so attentive, all in all a wonderful lunch.

Just had the most delicious Sunday roast. Staff friendly and attentive and a top roast dinner, not to mention an amazing pud and fantastic surroundings.

Had a fantastic Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea at the lovely Merchants Restaurant. A cute sunny spot in a lovely end of town. The staff were really attentive & the food was amazing. In particular I would recommend trying their cocktails as the guys know their stuff!

First time here but won't be our last. The atmosphere, food and service were spot on. Special mention to the lovely lady who looked after us for 2 hours. Fab beef sharing board! Cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef, Ben Chaplin! Lovely meal with my partner in perfect surroundings.

Beautiful place brilliant service they really look after you. Catered really well for my dietary requirements and the food was superb.

Ate with pals on Tuesday evening armed with Travelzoo voucher @ £105 for four diners. Was it worth it! Wonderful ambience starting with a welcoming glass of prosecco in the bar. Exciting 5 course taster menu served in the restaurant, great wines plus friendly, attentive bar and waitress service. Can’t wait to return. Try it!

Absolutely gorgeous meal at merchants last night. If you want a very nice classy place to eat with an excellent menu and service then you need to try this place. Best place to eat in Notts loved it we will be back thank you.

A great little find. The staff are friendly and remembered our drinks order after a few weeks away. The food is excellent and changes regularly which is always a great sign. The roast dinner and puddings are definite recommendations. We will be back.

Great meal. Steak cooked nicely, lamb was very flavoursome. Cocktails are lovely but on the pricey side. Staff very helpful and friendly. My fiancé had a lovely 40th birthday. Thank you

Food was excellent, service was a bit hit and miss! Great value afternoon tea.

After my 1st visit to merchants back in September we left very disappointed after they had forgotten to bring out some side dishes. We decided to give them another chance because we use to dine there quite often before it shut down. An low an behold they forgot to bring out part of our main meal an side order again will we be making a 3rd visit. NO WE SHALL NOT.
