About Supportive Parents

Supportive Parents provides the SENDIAS service for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. SENDIAS stands for 'Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support'. Our helpline is open Monday-Friday, 9. 30am-4. 30pm.

Our Information, Advice and Support Line is available 10am-2pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time (answerphone at all other times) 0117 9897725. If you have any concerns or worries about your child's SEN provision call us!

The DfE have updated guidance about transport for all post-16 students and students with SEND, older students and those in rural areas. They have included good practice suggestions and information on department compliance checks. They have added a local authority transport policy template and section on sustainable transport. This will be a joint meeting with North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together (NSPCWT). It's an opportunity to meet your local councillors and chat to them informally over coffee and cake. SEND in Schools - just a few places remaining at our 2 FREE workshops for parents/carers in February. Are you the parent or carer of a school aged child in Bristol or North Somerset, who has or may have, special educational needs or a disability? If you'd like to find out what schools can do to support your child's needs, feel more confident when talking to school about your child's needs or if you're thinking of applying for an EHC needs assessment, we have two workshops on offer this February. Two public consultation workshops in conjunction with a specialist transport solicitor are being held as part of the home to school transport consultation in North Somerset. They will be held on 6 February at the Campus, Highlands Lane, Weston-super-mare from 7-9pm and on 7 February at Folk Hall, 95 High Street, Portishead from 11.30am-1.30pm. Just sat in a presentation from this Charity. They're so knowledgeable and helpful with regards to what support your school should be providing your child. Well worth a call if you're struggling to get from your child's school if they're anxious and worried and it's impacting on their health and well being but not recognised by their school.

I love going to supportive parents monthly meetings it's a chance to meet other parents In the same situation and talk freely and without judgement
