Evil at the top and who knows how far down it goes. From my experience, a long way!
When my wife worked for the mental health team in Grosvenor Road, Aldershot, there was a happy working atmosphere and a good team there. However, since the move to badly placed and poorly provided for Aldershot Centre for Health, things have gone from bad to worse (and we've heard through others that the situation there is reaching breaking point). This is unhelpful and counter-productive for staff and clients/patients.
Something has gone seriously wrong when management and HR victimize staff, preferring to listen to hearsay and gossip from Conifers staff, than to long serving, efficient, effective, loyal and popular members of staff. I am disgusted with the treatment of my wife, who gave 30 years exemplary service, yet was bullied and victimized, so that Hampshire County Council could get out of paying long service redundancy. Instead, rather than discipline for an alleged offence, they chose to suspend and then dismiss my wife. HCC then warned the case could not go to tribunal, because they had reinstated her following her appeal win, yet they hadn't reinstated her pay, pension, etc.
The financial settlement we eventually squeezed out of HCC in no way reflects my wife's 30 years dedicated, loyal, exemplary service, nor compensates her or her family for the stress and financial hardship they caused our whole family.
Surely Surrey and Borders Parnership NHS Foundation Trust is supposed to be helping those with Mental Health issues, not creating more by subjecting their staff to horrendous treatment? If this is the way you treat staff, clients/patients have no chance!
