Calling all teachers!
Sutton Hoo may be closed for school visits, but our local outreach programme is still going strong. If you're local, we would love to come visit and show off our beautiful replica Anglo-Saxon treasures or maybe help with a project of your own.

The parasol mushrooms have had a wonderful year so far at Sutton Hoo, dotted all about our woodlands and pathways.

We've been to Stoke Library yesterday with our Sutton Hoo Roadshow and off to many more over the coming months, including Bury Library on 20 October. History, books and treasure all in one - it's a match made in heaven! Image: Hollie Griss

The serene calm of evening at Sutton Hoo 🌙

With Sutton Hoo closed and everything in the Hall needing conservation work before storage, seating for our film recently became the perfect waiting room for all the objects. Even here we make sure to keep them on plastic or acid-free to prevent damage.

We have had nearly all the seasons in one today at Sutton Hoo! From a bit of a dark, misty winter morning turning to a blue skies and sunshine summer day, before settling into a calm and chilly autumn evening ☀️

The work has begun and we're well under way in the Hall at Sutton Hoo. Here's a (fairly easy) game of spot the differences with the first photo taken Sunday on our last day of opening and the second taken today. We're taking everything out for cleaning and conservation before the exciting new changes can come in!

And we're off! Day one of our Roadshow and day one at Felixstowe East of England Co-op. We're there until Thursday 4 October, so if you're in the area, why not pop down and say hello?

User

Have you seen our October schedule for the Sutton Hoo Roadshow yet? From tomorrow we'll be touring the county with our amazing volunteers and stunning replicas, starting with Felixstowe East of England Co-op > https://bit.ly/2Nc1cBR

And that's a wrap! We've had a wonderful day, with thanks to Dr Hoggett for our last Historia talk. Thank you to all our visitors and supporters from everyone here at Sutton Hoo on our last day of opening for 2018! We hope to see you all on our roadshow.

We had a lovely afternoon here - exhibition and film very good. Blue walk was very enjoyable but could do with a few more seats for those of us who have difficultly with walking too far without a break.
