Went to Manchester for the night, stopped off at the place for supper, food was amazing, staff were fab, defo recommend 😄

We were greeted with a smile. The young man who waited on our table was very pleasant and very attentive . The restaurant takes taste card but you have to order two courses. I had the mango chicken which was very nice my husband had a lamb meal which was very nice and spicy. Two beers and a orange juice popodams and two starters for 34 quid which was great value. Staff friendly and very pleasant food was hot and arrived quickly no problems will call again.

Visiting Manchester it is a must to stop at Swadesh - good food, excellant service but most important friendly environment. It just feels like home

This is the third visit and as previously excellent for the minute you walk in the door to the minute you leave, the staff are friendly and attentive, there is a large choice of curries to choose from to suit all tastes and reasonable priced, there is also an early bird option 5 to 7 we will return soon

The food here is delicious. I had dinner here because I was in Manchester for a course and the restaurant was ideally located beside the hotel after a long drive from Scotland. The food is authentic, fresh and utterly delicious. Nice authentic feel about the place and food wine too. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Manchester

My Indian husband and I both came away saying last night that this was the best Indian meal we have eaten in memory. We decided to eat the fish starters - the tandoori salmon and the tikka cod. Both were cooked to perfection. The special lamb dish my husband had was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken main meal too. The surprise delight was actually the rice! It was so good. Not only was the rice perfectly cooked, it was so beautifully fragranced with bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cloves, curry leaves etc and it tasted more like a biryanis not a simple pilau. The parothas were great too and not as heavy as the usual naan. The restaurant is attractively appointed, in a great central location and the service from all the waiters was superb. The only thing I would like to feed back on is that I did inform the waiter that I could not eat nuts or capsicum peppers when he took my order. However, my main did have some peppers in it. Luckily, I am only intolerant to them, not allergic, and I quickly removed them. Just concerned that if I had had a food allergy, it could have been serious. It did not impact on the meal at all though, which is why we have given it five stars! We will definitely be back.

I’ve been eating now and then at Indian restaurants in England since I moved from Sweden in 1987 until I got really bored of Indian food

However, last night I experienced the food at Swadesh and it blew me away!!! Definitely the MOST authentic Indian I have ever had even though I have never been to India

Really friendly staff and ethereal atmosphere.

If Swadesh isn’t an award winning restaurant yet....here’s a few from me

Food really tasty and good service!

User

Went on Sunday lunch time and had the buffet. Nice and friendly service, really enjoyed the food, good flavours and for £8.95 it was a bargain as well! Would like to come again and order from the à la carte.

User

Very nice food - however £5+ surcharge for 2 people and feeling forced to pay isn’t welcoming for a return visit (Should be able to tip the waiter if desired)

User

Very good. All the food was freshly prepared and tasted delicious

User

The papad was somewhat strange.. no kimmel or other flavor to it. The lentil soup was average at best. The main dishes and meats were tasty but nothing spectacular. Staff was very friendly though.

Ok I edited the rating from 3 to 4 stars on account of how friendly the staff was.

Swadesh is one of the best Indian Cuisine Restaurant I had experienced till now. Ambience is nice and Quality of food is amazing. Me and my friend had a good dinner time here. Must go if you're in a love with Indian Food and Spice's.

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with smiles, attention and lovely service. Everyone was super helpful and kind and the good was amazing! First time in Manchester and a curry was a must! We will definitely come back here on our next visit. Thanks guys!

Fantastic meal .. lovely staff who couldn't do enough, waited a while for main course but was full for a while from starter as portion large so can't complain. Would definitely go again

User

Couldn't fault the curry was really lovely, wouldn't say the waiter was very friendly a few smiles wouldn't have gone amiss, had to ask for water twice, I work in a hairdressers and customer service is everything.customers are your bread and butter always remember that

User

Staff very friendly and helpful, found my group of 6 people a table nearly soon as we walked in without booking . But the service was very slow and 1 off the meals was not liked described on the menu. But yes I would go back again .

Food average. Chicken pakora was basically deep fried chicken fillet. Pullao rice dry. Garlic naan nice.

Beer not good.

Service variable. Not a great deal of smiles. Got asked if wanted another round of drinks which never arrived.

Had the cheek to automatically add 10% service charge to the bill.

Had a bad experience when I went for dinner with my girl friends last night. Waiter forgot my dinner only order the rice and firgit to order my curry. Got charged for poppadums which was nee to me. After we paid food bills and went out for shisha, order cheese cake but a different desert was given to us (instead of telling what we order was finish no one did) till later when we still waiting for the correct desert before we been told what we asked for was out if order. When ask for bill they charged us for food (already paid) and shisha and we had to tell them food was already paid before they amended the bill. Really poor service and poor communication among the staff.
