The Frigate Shtandart has arrived at the Pier this morning earlier than scheduled and will be departing in the early hours of Friday (30 June). Come along and take the opportunity to experience what life was like on board a tall ship. Unfortunatley due to operational reasons the ships timings have been changed at short notice, which is outside our control. Today the Pier will will remain open until late for tours onboard this magnificant ship.

We love Swanage Pier and have been coming to Swange for years. We often read the memorial plaques and notice flowers placed on seats for someone special, this just sums up how important the pier is to so many people. We have brought our grandchildren here for crabbing and now they are teenagers they like to 'stroll' too, but they still expect an ice cream from the little cafe! There is a lot going on and you have a super view from the pier.

Visited yesterday with my child who is 5 we had a super fantastic day everywhere was clean and spotless ,locals were friendly and helpful we had hours of endless fun on the beach wave hopping, sandcastles building , and having traditional fish and chips ,also loved the punch and Judy show , it was a 1st experience for my daughter and she absolutely loved it the staff preforming the show was fantastic and included all of the kids within the show , it's £1 each to watch but totally worth it ,afterwards you can have a picture taken with punch for £1. all monies raised by this is helping to keep the show going totally worth it to keep up with good old seaside traditions . it Was an amazing day and we will definitely be returning x

Visited on 8/9/17 to go fishing. Weather was awful but was a great day. Cheap for 3 of us plus a van to park. Only a short walk to get supplies if needed. Lots of species caught between the 3 of us. Locals were friendly and end of pier is set up for fishermen with tables for preping bait, a line bin, normal bins and if weather is rubbish you can take shelter with the covered benches. Not from swanage but will always travel the 2hr drive to fish there .

Swanage pier is one of those charming steps back in time, that allows you to relax and enjoy the view, whatever the weather. i have visited it in all seasons and find it one of my favourite places to visit.

User

Swanage is a lovely place, a lovely old fasioned town but with a modern twist and the pier/seafront is beautiful, we going back again in aug we loved it that much xx

User

Swanage is a beautiful place, especially the iconic pier which is a wonderful place to walk. Plus, it will always have an extra special place in my heart since it was the place my partner proposed to me just yesterday!!!!!

On a little day trip out with friends, around and about decided to stop off at Swanage. Love this place, it retains a lovely seaside town charm. Fantastic beach for families and with all the traditional seaside attractions there is plenty to keep young children entertained. A walk along the pier is a must, it costs £1, which goes towards helping to maintain it, so it's worth it, and you get a lovely view looking back towards Swanage town.

User

No visit to Swanage is complete without a walk along the pier. Always clean and litter free with very friendly helpful staff.

We have a plaque on the pier and the staff are always on hand to lend a cloth and some Braso.

Love it!!!!

User

My favourite place in the world! We go to swange every summer since I was born and now my children love it just as much as me! Beautiful place beautiful people! ❤️❤️

User

It had been about 15 years since I last went to Swanage, went on the 1st June the weather was perfect, my son, granddaughter & I travelled to Swanage on the steam train, strolled along the pier which had cost £1, worth every penny, had fish & chips. It was a perfect day out. I will not leave it for another 15 years before I go back again.

User

I always think that Swanage has an 'oldie worldy' atmosphere and the Pier adds to it, and is so lovely! We went on the Jurassic boat tour from Poole to Swanage and also enjoyed a trip on the steam train which really made a great day out. The sun was shining and we all went home happy and tired from all that sea air 😊

User

Had a most enjoyable day out in swanage yesterday with my sister , the local museum was very helpful and we found a lovely little restaurant that had a good menu of fresh food and lots of books on the history of swanage 5*****

Been to swanage for years and years. My grandparents took me and I'm now taking my children. We camp every year and I would highly recommend getting down to see it! Best fish and chip shops! Best atmosphere! Best everything! ❤❤❤❤❤

User

Absolutely beautiful and amazing place. Visited yesterday for possibly the thousandth time. Came down to show my 3 children their great grandparents memorial plaques on the pier and came off of it engaged! Swanage pier will always be a special place to me

User

Visited Swanage yesterday (15/08/17) .... we arrived with our 2 young boys and our dog we arrived at 13.30 hrs went to park up and for 4 hours parking away from the beach approximately 1/2 mile to be exact it was £6.40 I only had £4.50 in change - didn't expect it to be so expensive !! Not wanting to pay that much, however really wanted to visit Swanage as I'd heard it was a beautiful part of Dorset. We decided to drive to the local Texaco garage a few minutes away from the car park. The boys needed a drink so I purchased 2 bottles of pop which came to around £2.80. I handed my £20 note over and said "I've had no fuel just these please and could I have £5 in change. The man serving behind the counter who was quite an elderly man with white hair said "no, I can't give you change" I said "pardon" , he then repeated himself and said "no I haven't got change" I then explained it was for parking as it was more than I'd anticipated. He handed me my change and didn't even break down the £2 coin !! "Oh you don't like to help your tourist friends out then ?" He replied "no" as I walked off I said "what a horrible unhelpful man you are" !!! He then proceeded to tell one of the locals what had happened felt totally unwelcome !!! When we finally parked up and finally walked in to Swanage we approached the Pier and it was £1 per person to "stroll" along the Pier - couldn't believe it. A lot of people feeling the same as us. Lovely place, very unwelcoming, rip off and over priced. Glad we visited but won't be again and I will encourage family and friends to steer clear. No Tourists equals no Economy think carefully Swanagee's !!!

User

Unbelievable, as we approached the pier found out there was a charge of £1 for STROLLING!!. This is a public place and the local council wanted to charge us to walk!!! It gets better on route in to swanage we stopped at a local Texaco garage to obtain change for parking. A rude old man who was a local served me. I selected an item from the shop and tried to pay With a £5 note. The old man asked me " do you have anything smalller" I replied "no" he then told me I Could not have the item !!!!!! I asked why and he told me I could

Not have the change for parking !!!! I have asked to speak with the manager as he was refusing to serve me as a customer due to change!! He then huffed and puffed and eventually gave me my change in 50 pence pieces. What an absolute utter, ignorant old fool. Swanage was nice but very expensive!!! Most people visiting had the same opinion as me that locals do not like visitors. ARROGANCE pure ARROGANCE. Without tourists they would be nothing!
