A bit of research into new toffee recipes in the kitchen today. This is an almond butter crunch toffee with milk chocolate and flaked almond topping. Like a homemade dime bar and a delicious texture. The first batch I forgot to add water and it burnt so early (see the lovely burnt toffee in the bowl). I was going to give up but opened the windows, took a deep breath and had another go! I love how with toffee it is a few simple ingredients- butter, sugar, syrup, water and salt... and a bit of practice and you can make something magical. We’ve all had a nibble and going to take the rest to my mams for pudding after our Sunday dinner tomorrow. Will be lovely with a cuppa ☕️ Might look at packaging ideas to see if this one could be a winner. I wonder if it would work as an individual bar like a chocolate bar? A bit delayed but we have had a lovely break after our usual crazy run up to Christmas (which starts in September!). So proud of my daughter Eve who at 14 has decided that instead of a Saturday job she is going to start her own business! She has sourced, designed and packaged the most beautiful range of natural candles and bath products in some lovely unusual scents and will be using any profits towards funding her trip to New York next December to sing with Durham Youth Choir in Carnegie Hall. Wow what a treasure we found in Langley Park. The produce Sally sells in her shop is wonderful. We bought her shop made cinder toffee, it was very tasty. We also bought fresh bread which was also delicious. We chatted to Sally, she was friendly and helpful. Sally went out of her way to help us find someone to make a celebration cake. She promoted other local businesses and told us if we needed anything else to get in touch. Sally has a 5* business, produce and customer service.
