About Talad Thai Supermarket

The new and improved Talad Thai has a beautiful new rustic look, and now includes exciting additions of Coffee, Bubble Tea and homemade hot food.

Talad Thai Supermarket Description

Founded in 1990 by husband and wife team Sa-ard and Thanaporn Kriangsak, Talad Thai had one simple goal. . . To provide the local AsThai community with the same food, drinks and sweets they grew up with back in Thailand.

As the shop expanded to include cuisine from all areas of Asia, from Japan to spices from India, the ideal of the shop also evolved to serve authentic Asian food to the entire Asian community, and to introduce the food that they knew and loved from back home to every local from Putney.

In 2015, Talad Thai's ownership was passed down from parents to daughter, and underwent yet another evolution. The entire shop closed down for a major refurbishment which lasted close to a year to develop. The new and improved Talad Thai has a beautiful new rustic look, and now includes exciting additions of Coffee, Bubble Tea and homemade hot food to take away, and still somehow manages to keep the same huge variety of products from all over Asia that talad Thai was known and loved for.

Only today and tomorrow to go before the big day.
We have a huge 20% off all food related items in store, unless there is a better deal. (Not including clothing and home wear, but they are already at amazing prices anyway)
We are quickly running out of stock, but we do still have plenty of best sellers for you to take advantage of prices you won’t find anywhere else.

Don’t forget this is our final week. We will be closing our doors for the last time on Sunday 21st July.
We still have lots of our best sellers, but they won’t last long. They all have long expiry dates, so you can stock up if you don’t want to travel all the way to china town.
We also have loads more on offer with 20% off all frozen goods and most items, and lots of 3 for 2 on loads of others.
... This weekend is the last chance to grab a bargain.

It’s that time!! Our final week open before we close for good on Sunday the 21st July.
We have loads more items on offer, and many more coming, so come and grab a bargain before everything is gone. The last of our stock is selling fast, but we still have lots of our more popular items available.
In addition to our regular items, we now have some amazing summer wear made in Chiang Mai in Thailand. All fair trade and made with 100% cotton. They are currently on an introductory ...price, and the quality and designs are fantastic. These are selling faster than expected, so come in and check them out.
In addition, everything in the shop is now up for sale including shelving, fridges, freezers and decorations. Please just ask a member of staff for more information.

You may have already heard the rumour, and we are very sorry to say that they are true. Our little shop that has been providing the best Asian produce to Putney for 29 years is finally closing down.
It was a very difficult decision, but with the general decline in the high street, constantly rising prices, import costs and ever more restrictive import legislations, it has sadly become impossible to continue our business. Also it is worth a mention that our architect stole alm...ost our entire budget after the refurbishment, and we never managed to fully recover from the devastating blow.
We would like to thank all all of our loyal customers and friends from the bottom of our hearts for their ongoing support through good and bad times. We simply could not have stayed open and been so successful had it not been for you. We will miss you all.
A massive thank you also goes to our long suffering staff, Melissa and Simon, who have worked so hard and diligently for 12 hours per day, 7 days per week for the last 3 years. You have made many personal and financial sacrifices to ensure that Our prices could remain as low as possible and that we could maintain an important element of the Putney community for as long as we possibly could. We are sure that we speak for most of Putney when we say that we owe you a huge debt of gratitude for your tireless work and personal sacrifices, and we wish you the very best of luck in whatever course life takes you on.
We would like to also thank our other members of staff we have had over the years who have also dedicated a huge portion of their lives for the Putney community. These are Somboon for her amazing cooking over the last 3 years, Satoko who was a rock through our first very difficult year after the refurbishment and is still missed, Gong for his attempts to modernise the shop, Moo who’s help over the last year has been an absolute life saver on many occasions, Last whos part time work was fundamental to the shop many years ago, Teera who’s magic hands can fix almost anything, and finally Kai, who you all know was the face and dry wit of the company for many years, and has still been a great help since her departure 4 years ago. Kai has been absolutely incredible with her hard work, and she must have been very good because customers still ask when she will be coming back. She was not only an amazing employee, but also the very best friend we could have wished for.
Finally, we will be remaining open until the middle of July, and as we head towards the closing date we will be adding more things to our offers, but don’t leave it too long because when our produce has run out, it will be gone for good.
Thank you all again for your support over the last 29 years, and I know we will see you around Putney.
Kindest regards
Thanaporn and Piak Kriangsak
