We found this place by accident but it is lovely the staff we very friendly, smiling and talkative. Especially the lovely girl with the auburn hair behind the bar on Thursday 19th October at lunch time. The food was excellent and very fairly priced we got quick excellent service, very accommodating to your needs. Would recommend this place 100%. From the Scottish lady in the purple top, very pleased

Visited tonight after being recommended by another restaurant in Wooler which didn't have any tables, and we're very pleased we visited. This is a lovely welcoming pub, with great food. Staff were very friendly and the kids (2 and 8) were also well catered for. A nice little play area outside too which would be great on a sunny day. We would definitely eat there again and will look into staying there also. A great little find! We really enjoyed it!

This place is a fabulous find! Staff friendly & very welcoming, great family & dog friendly place, food was lovely and the best prawn cocktail starter I've ever had! Great place will definitely be back!

User

Omg what a place The staff are all lovely . The hotel is fabulous and the surroundings are to die for . We stayed for 5 nights but wish we could have stayed longer . The meals were beautiful in the evening and the breakfast set us up for the day . We will definitely be back to see you all this year if you will have us . Thanks again for your hospitality and I hope you aren't snowed in as it was snowing when we left . Chrissie and Jay

We were given a very warm welcome with our Greyhound yesterday for our stop off on the way to Scotland.

Chose to have dinner in the bar as they allowed our Greyhound to be at the side of our table.

Duck Liver Pate to start was really creamy and tasty, and plenty of it. We both opted for steak pie, chips and peas and whilst I'm not a lover of flaky pastry these we're actually very nice - plenty of beef in the pie.

All staff made us welcome from arriving to having he last drink in the bar and the staff we saw early morning as we set off. Would use it again

We arrived shortly before closing and the bar lady was very welcoming. It is a beautiful building with some lovely furniture. Good prices for the drinks too.

User

Dog friendly, food fine but knocking a star off as had run out of prossecco and also run out of a beer I asked for otherwise would have returned today for my birthday meal!

User

Beer Garden was lovely, food was lovely although the steak that we asked for medium/rare was overcooked and the chips were frozen although on menu as 'Hand cut'!!'

The staff who served the evening meal were rather abrupt and kind of shoved the meal in front of you and didn't really care what you thought.. the lady who took order for breakfast and served it was lovely though and very friendly and accommodating..

The room was nice but the temperature was ridiculous! Far too hot and no way of adjusting the heating!

This is an excellent hotel for our journey between scotland and where we live in england. They accept dogs in rooms and its perfect for us and very suitable for this. Hotel itself is lovely, room very comfortable. However as a chef i feel you need to find yourself a new chef or chefs as the food we had was pretty shocking, we would stay again bit would definitely not eat again with you as both evening meals and breakfast was not acceptable sorry. On arrival ont 3rd Dec, we was greeted by a member of team sorry didn't get her name, oldish lady and was very helpful and welcoming, we then got settled in room with dogs and went down for evening meal. My wife ordered the "Jack Daniels Burger" which when arrived looked great except the homemade chips where barely cooked and some was completely raw still and dont think they seen a fryer. The burger was ok and edible but i am sorry the chips were not!! I ordered the Gammon Steak with Pineapple, now i like my meat well done but this was a joke i am sorry to say. The Gammon was black and only cooked on one side, the garden peas where hard, the onion rings where so well done the onion has disappeared and was left with just batter rings, my chips where also uncooked and barely been fried. My gammon & pineapple where black, and i had to use the napkin to soak up the grease as it was all over my food. Then came the breakfast next morning (Sun 4th Dec), coffee, tea, cereals, juice all excellent, but the cooked breakfasts not so good!! Black pudding very rubbery and not nice, egg wasn't cooked properly still had raw egg white on it, tomatoes raw, bacon too rubbery to cut probably due to being cooked early then left in a bain marie ready for service. However when then checked to continue our journey home, but on checkout we want even asked if everything was ok or satisfactory or anything just here is bills thanks!!! No customer service skills at all from this lady no explanation of bill or anything.... However despite the rubbish food i would stay again in future but would eat out. Maybe chef was having a bad day but certainly not good on this occasion.
