About Target Ovarian Cancer

Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, working to improve early diagnosis, fund research and provide much-needed support.

Target Ovarian Cancer Description

Ovarian cancer can be devastating. It kills 12 women every single day in the UK and survival rates in the UK are among the worst in Europe. But there is hope – Target Ovarian Cancer.

We are the authority on ovarian cancer. We work with women, family members and health professionals to ensure we target the areas that matter most for those living and working with ovarian cancer.

As the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity we work to improve early diagnosis, we fund life-saving research and we provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer. We’re the only charity fighting ovarian cancer on all three of these fronts, across all four nations of the UK.

“I want to talk about superheroes. To me they aren’t caped crusaders, they are people fighting every day to live well. My Mum is my superhero. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. Her story is like so many others; no symptoms until the disease was already advanced, and a host of side effects, which left her in hospital before one major operation and too many chemo sessions to count.
In testament to her, and to all the women fighting every day, I wa...nted to take on a challenge to not only raise awareness of ovarian cancer, but also the importance of early diagnosis and support services. Unfit and packing quite a few extra pounds due to my love of wine and carbs, I decided to take on a 10k and signed up for running for Target Ovarian Cancer in the Richmond RunFest in September. Hell, if my Mum can go through chemo, I can train for a 10k! I am NOT a superhero or a natural born runner, but I AM going to do this. Meanwhile, my Mum is surviving cancer and is fighting to kick this cancer’s butt; she like so many other women battling and living with ovarian cancer are the superheroes.” Elaine, Team Target runner

"I was in the waiting room after hearing about my cancer recurrence and I happened to pick up a copy of Target Ovarian Cancer's newsletter On Target. There was a story in there about a woman who had reccurred many times but was having fun, going on holiday, etc. It changed my outlook - I was determined to make sure that ovarian cancer was just a detour in my life." Jennie was diagnosed after a concerned friend alerted her to the significance of the symptoms she'd been having. The Target Ovarian Cancer nursing staff were so helpful to me when I was confused and uncertain about what to do for my treatment decisions after the tumour was removed and it was discovered to be malignant.

User

Let's raise awareness this month Facebook is a great tool to do this. If anyone has the symptoms pls look into it with your doctor it could be nothing but if there are early warning signs don't ignore. X

All women should get checked regular like the smears we have done it may help catch it and stop it from spreading if caught early and treated. It's one thing I fear most as Other women do 2. Xx
