Good Morning, just to say that the shop is open today despite the weather. We may close early this afternoon. So if you are also braving the weather today come on in and see us.😀

Just arrived. 13 volumes of Dickens beautifully produced by the Folio Society.

New range of beautiful China mugs. We also still have stock of our Lisa Parker mugs.

Just to clarify what happened outside the shop this morning. There were several loud bangs heard through the morning accompanied by flickering lights which being an older building is nothing out of the ordinary. However we observed people out in the street inspecting the pavement just to the edge of the shop when asked they told us that the paving brick had just shot out of the ground as they past. We thought it was a build up of water at this time due to the recent weathe...r. The brick was replaced and the trip hazard reported to the council. Shortly after another bang and the brick is out of the ground and there is slight smoke coming out of the hole along with an odd smell. We reported this as a possible gas leak. Not long after a really loud bang and on inspection more smoke is coming out of the hole and six more bricks are loose. It was at this point that we rang the fire brigade. The road was closed and power turned off for a while but not as long as it could have been. The issue has been found and the road is currently being dug up to mend the faulty cable. So contrary to reports it was not a bit of a bang and some sparks in the basement, we don't even have a basement.

UPDATE. We are open again as we have power again.

Please be advised that we are currently closed and are unlikely to reopen today. This is due to currently having no power. It had to be turned off after cables were exploding under the pavement outside the shop. Hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

We are open today until 5pm for all those last minute gifts. We are closed tomorrow and reopen after Christmas on Wednesday. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our customers.
