The Tarka Trail is a fantastic place to learn how to cycle. The Tarka Trail Cycle hire has a full range of kids bikes to make this happen. This is a 3 mile out and back route to Fremington Quay for Belgium tiffin. Ideal for the beginner.

We just had a great afternoon out with our 3 small children. We hired a tagalong bike (which the 4 and 5 year old both absolutely loved when they took it on turns) and a trailer which they also had great fun in with their younger sister yelling at their Dad to go FASTER!

We had a fantastic day out on Friday thanks to the lovely people at Tarka Trail Cycle hire who sorted us out with bikes, a double WeeHoo for the kids and even a trailer for our dog! We biked from Barnstaple to Instow and had a lovely time at the beach and fab lunch at the Instow Arms. We appreciated the friendly and helpful service from everyone at the bike shop.

Very good and friendly service. I forgot to put a ticket on my car and phoned them when we were out on the bikes. Paul very helpfully put one on for me allowing me to enjoy the rest of our ride. Top service.

So helpful, when I really didn't know what I was doing, great bikes came with bike locks and puncture repair kits, everything you could need!! Friendly staff who can tell you lots of information about the trail, very reasonable hire rates, I highly recommend!

Really helpful, excellent customer service, we phoned ahead and our bikes were ready when we arrived an hour later. Good quality bikes with helmet, lock and emergency repair kit. Easy to find and cheap parking in the railway station car park. We would definitely recommend.

Husband suggested we hire bicycles and go on the bike trail during our stay at Ruda Holiday Park. It was amazing.



The gentlemen at Tarka were very helpful especially Paul. Service here was excellent. We got on the bike trail from Barnstable all the way to Bideford; with a few stops of course, cycling with the two young boys - for water, catching a breath, taking on and off their jumpers and me of course busy taking pictures of the picturesque fields, harbour, the beach and the town.



We clocked some 18 miles and it was all worth it! �

Hired bikes at the weekend with a child bike seat on the back. Really pleased with the service - friendly and flexible as we didn't know how long we wanted to hire bikes out for. We had a lovely cycle to Instow for chips on the beach. Thanks.

Best day of our holiday so far. Brilliant service from the guys when we picked up our reserved bikes, happily swapping our tag-along to a tag-along trike when the 2 wheeler wasn't quite right for us. Bikes were in great condition & we set off with everything we needed. Our 5 and 2 year old loved the adventure & we loved getting out in the fresh air and getting away from it all. Perfect stop at the Puffing Billy cafe in Great Torrington for lunch. 30 miles later & we're ready for our dinner! Great pricing too, the family package was perfect value.
