From going to the kitchen just for eating or making a mess to spending most of my time in the kitchen trying all sorts of recipes, I bring to you a huge transformation my mom still can’t believe. I used to wonder about how ladies waste half of their lives in cooking and that too for others, so I never cooked before I got married. After getting married, as we were living all alone, that may have forced me to start cooking. That time what helped me was the time spent with my best friend. My dear friend is Marwari and as you can imagine, Kitchen was the place where I had to be in if I have to spend time with her. As most of her time used to go in the kitchen. When I actually started cooking myself, I mean left with no choice but to cook myself, this dear friend acted as my guide in my thoughts and everything started falling in place. Then recently when all of us emotional eaters (My family and I) were kept away from the authentic Indian food after coming to the UK, the cook inside me flamboyantly came out and started cooking, cooking and cooking. Even the dishes I would not have thought of ever cooking myself.

My grandmother is my first and biggest inspiration. Her plain chapatis as well used to be sooo tasty that you could eat them just as they are, happily. And then I remember my mom’s scolding for all the wrongs we siblings used to do unknowingly, damaging her cooking. Well, in fact all these come as insider tips for my kitchen adventures. Then, how can I forget one of our aunts from Nashik who taught me a lot about how hot and spicy a curry can be made. Nothing can ever replace her Shevbhaji and PatalBhaji.

Then comes my mother-in-law, who pampered me during both of my pregnancies and then post-delivery with her lovely recipes.

And of-course all my bhabhies , who inspire me to cook all the tasty and time consuming dishes on demand for the family.

Last but not the least, my daughters. Elder, who is always ready and happy to try new dishes and younger a creative cook herself, and a true Critique when needed.
