About Taunton Deane Triathlon & Aquathlon

Taunton Deane Triathlon, Aquathlon & Junior Aquathlon

Taunton Deane Triathlon & Aquathlon Description

The first Taunton Deane Triathlon took place in 1998. Since then the organising committee has changed some of its members but our commitment to providing high quality, good value events is still there. We are in partnership with the local triathlon club, Somerset R. C. Tri

Somerset R. C. Tri members give a huge amount of time in helping to make the events a success. Most of them can be found marshalling at the events as well as racing. They also help set up transition the day before and dismantle it after the events. Many of them also turn up on the training day to offer the benefit of their experience to those who are nervous about their first event.

Well done everyone that competed in the Aquathlon today. It was a good event and thanks to participants, all the club volunteers who marshalled excellently, thanks to BETTER for the Centre facilities and assistance and thanks to our main sponsor Bridgwater & Taunton College. Thanks also to www.nutristrength.com for the nutrition products. Congratulations to all the winners and a full list of all participants times will be published as soon as I receive it from the timers. Uncollected trophies will be posted. There were as always a few bits of lost property which is at Wellington Sports Centre - see photo (not the coffee).

Please note Wellington rugby club will be open from 9am with hot food and drinks
It is just opposite the sports centre and very good for food and drink
... The sports centre has vending machines but you can get a wider choice at club prices at the rugby club
They also have a bar so if supporting or when you finish you can treat yourself x

I've audited the race entries for the Aquathlon next weekend. All looking good with a great turnout. The only discrepancy is there is a Dr Stuart Collins who reckons he is 60 by the end of the year. I've seen this handsome dark haired man and his gorgeous young looking wife and I will need a birth certificate at registration please x

If you entered the novice by mistake and have asked how to change to the sprint triathlon I have emailed you instructions. If you have not received an email and your entry confirmation says novice and you meant to enter the sprint please let me know as I can change it for you Andy Race Director

Taunton Deane Triathlon & Aquathlon
There have been a few people who have entered the adult novice instead of the sprint. The BTF website to enter is not as clear as it could be especially if you are using a smart phone rather than a PC or laptop. Under the Event Contacts is the heading Events and Distances but only the Novice appears but if you click on 'Read More' the Sprint option is then available as are the Junior races.

Yesterday I completed my first long distance Aquathlon. What an incredibly well organised, well marshalled event. Fantastic supportive atmosphere, still buzzing!

What a brilliantly organised event, amazing marshals who were full of encouragement - ideal first tri event - am now looking for my next one to enter! See you next year :)

Today I did my first Novice Triathlon at the age of 55, a thing on my BUCKET LIST was race no. ONE, quite funny!

The training day last week was excellent, Max and the other members gave their time to ensure we knew what to expect today.

The sun shone, crowds awesome but the groups members who run this events really warmed my heart, my questions never to much trouble. Truly had the BEST time EVER. I will be back. Special thanks to Max, Lorraine and Andy. But Thank you ALL so much. Suzanne Heayns

Hi Jo

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for all the info in the run up to today's triathlon, I really appreciated it, and it helped me to be so much more relaxed about the whole thing, instead of being full of nerves! I thoroughly enjoyed the event, and found all of the members of the event crew that I came into contact with incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in the event, to make it happen, without people giving up the time to help, I would never have discovered a friendly & welcoming sport. To all the volunteers & organisers who gave up your time, You are all brilliant!

Than you from a very tired, but happy novice 1st time triathlete! I can't wait to take part next year.

Best wishes
