Had my sons birthday party there. Children had a good time and the staff were very attentive bringing drinks, balloons and helping with the cake. Food was pretty bad quality but the children didn’t mind.

User

We booked for my Godson's birthday, the kids enjoyed the bowling. Although their was a problem with one of our lanes and it took 20mins for it to get resolved with no communication from staff. But the manager did give some free drinks when I requested. The staff were friendly but more concerned with having a chat! I really fancied a coffee and the machines at the bar were not working and the staff were working at a slow pace.

User

Venue is decent with lots to do there are well as bowl. My partner and I visited for her birthday yesterday and used the basketball game, the 10p shove machines and had a game of pool as well as a bowl. But I agree with the other comments, there are too few staff. I often support learning disabled clients to the venue in the daytime and recently it took half an hour to get a lane changed after it broke down. Fortunately we just managed to keep them restful during that time. It must be equally difficult with children.

This place does good business and I cannot believe that they cannot afford a couple more staff.

User

To be fair the place is run by teenagers and I did not see one manager of an age over 25 , the games machines to obtain tickets for prizes are a big rip off, tho your kids will not know how much you would spend to try and obtain a thousand or more tickets, I spent £50 with the return of around 400 tickets only to win sweets and a batman ball for all our efforts but hey ho the kids enjoyed it and that's all that matters, bowling for two children and one adult for 3 games came to £47, food and drinks came to £17 so all in all £120 roughly spent in 5 hours, will be looking to take my boys somewhere better next time for the amount of money spent...

I took my granddaughter to her friends bowling party. They had fun but only because the adults with them entertained them as one of the lanes number 17 kepted getting stuck. We had to constantly chase staff to fix it. If it hadnt been for the other children and the adults in the party it wouldnt have been as much fun. The bowling pin with his name on was written badly and smudged which is shame. As its ment to be a keepsake. At least i know now and wont be recommending or booking my granddaughters party there.

User

Had my sons 6th birthday party at the Valley park bowling and I must say I wasn't impressed. My lane was booked for 11 and at the start all was going well. However when we arrived I was told that the food would take at least 30 mins and order when we want. I ordered straight away thinking that it would be in good time to get first game done before we started the second but too my surprise it came out 10 minutes later COLD!!!

As the food was brought out our lane broke down and we were moved but this took 20 mins to do. The manger was so busy as they were completely understaffed that by the time she came over the kids had eaten half there food. And as they had now moved us to a lane that was far too small for a kids party they had no where to sit to place their drinks etc as other family's were there. When we finally got the game continued on the new lane as 3 goes each it this one then broke down and this happened 4 times. Eventually we got out at 2.30 yes 2.30 4 hours after first arriving.

Even though the manger was very helpful when I could eventually get her attention and she offered me half my money back it still was a very disappointing birthday party for my son. I must add that having one person on the bar and only two other staff in for a bank holiday Monday was shocking.

User

Had my son's 10th Birthday here today. On arrival staff were friendly. We had 2 very young nice members of staff nothing was too much trouble for them, they filled up juice for us, helped with our cake etc. Only criticism I have is when we first got to our lanes we was kind of just left to start the staff came after we started to give a safety talk and the music was so quiet it wasn't worth having on.

User

Expensive food and drink, lot's of things for everyone to do, the bowling is not bad, but the music is far too loud. It's not very nice having to shout at your friends/family to make yourself heard.

User

Booked online for a discount and smooth entry into the lane, including drinks, all went pretty well. No broken lanes, enough balls (just) and staff working fairly quickly & politely. Glad I got to wear my own shoes. But this place will always be pretty messy & dirty, comes with the territory when your target audience is kids. It's fair game.

User

Easy and quick at reception, bar service was a bit slow. In general everything felt a bit dated with several broken lanes. Although still very busy, and good value on a Sunday night. Lane broke down 3 times over the course of 3 games, however the response was reasonable from staff. Biggest annoyance was the lack of balls. It's a bowling alley and with all lanes in use you could only have about 4 balls per pair of lanes. Didn't give you much choice in weight/finger size of balls. You could see some people struggling and having to wait for the same ball to come back everytime. Not Having enough balls seems like a fundamental oversight for a bowiling alley!

User

Attended a friends birthday group for a bit of fun. Firstly this place is understaffed which is a health and safety risk. Secondly Lane 15 is in need of repair the score screen was dull and blurred. Drinks are way over priced £23 for 2 cokes a jd and coke a bottle of cider and a slush puppy. The arcade games are fixed one of the party was playing a 10p shuffle game a £5 note was right on the edge which after a little while they managed to to make fall but got stuck we asked staff to retrieve it and was told he could not do that as it was a gambling machine and that's not the way it's work so I checked around for gaming permit which was no where to be found and asked staff about said permit we were told they didn't need one. I was not impressed as a lot of cleaners were milling around and moving personal items so they could do a deep clean. This place is poorly managed and should be ashamed. Most of the change machines were out of order and the only one that was working was empty. You and your staff need retraining in customer service because there is none in place. I will be reporting the fact that they have gambling machines but no gaming licence.

User

After pre booking, we arrived to a long queue and short staffed. We got to our lane and it wasn't working. Took half an hour to be told the lane can't be fixed and there was no lanes to move us onto, even though there were lots of empty ones. To the managers credit he gave us a refund after telling us they don't usually give refunds. Not enough staff in a busy establishment during school holidays.

User

After pre booking our slot we got here to a very long que and no where near enough staff to accommodate the amount of people waiting. We then got to our appointed alley to find it wasn't working at all we waited for over half and hour to then be told our lane cannot be fixed. At the managers discretion he gave our group a partial refund while telling us that it's not normally their policy to refund but he will just this time. There is clearly not enough staff to manage the amount of people in a school holiday.

User

Read the reviews for this place and thought it prolly isn't as bad as people make out. Broken lanes, long queues, its in the terms and conditions that refunds are unavailable even if they put other customers in your pre-booked lane meaning you can't start on time and when the Lane they suddenly find and put you in breaks down 20 times and you have to ask staff to fix the problem every time. Staff were very friendly despite the challenging circumstances, apart from the manager, who is rude. We ended up only playing one of the two games we paid for as we simply ran out of time. Not very good.

User

Pretty poor experience tonight tenpin.

Pre-booked 2 games, ordered food then headed to lane. Food took ages - don't know why, hotdog aside it was blo*dy awful - note to self only order hotdog in future. Chicken burger with lettuce tomato and mayo turned out to be fried chicken in a stale bun... that's it. Chips were clearly the end of a bag, not a whole chip in sight! Queue for bar so long one of us missed an ENTIRE game. 1 person serving a huge queue. When I pointed this out to lady on main desk she didn't respond to me. She rolled her eyes and marched to the bar to help asking why the poor bar girl hadn't asked for help (probably because she didn't have time and the queue was obvious?!)

Lane kept crashing and wait for staff to fix was stupid. Kind of spoiled the fun, thanks tenpin.

User

Line was foulty and it took 45 min to them to sort it out and there wasnt comunication between staff.. didnt want to let us to change the line as apparently all lines were booked when we could see like 10 of them free and couple broken... use to like to go bowling there but after this visit no more...

User

I think Croydon's Tenpin bowling needs to sort out a lot of things. Booked in advance to take 6 children and 5 adults. Only 1 person on the desk who takes booking, deal with problems that may occur with people who are on the bowling lanes, such as bumpers wont pull up, pins wont come back up when you are waiting to bowl again. As well as people who are using arcade want things, and to top it 1 person taking orders from the bar for food and drink. Then the worst was the toilets, an absolute disgrace. Also noticed was there is not even security now, so when you have big groups of teenagers hanging about, what is 1 or if your lucky 3 people at the most going to do in keeping control and safety in the whole building. It may of been a Sunday evening, as it was bowl 3 games for £10, so it was very- very busy. Come on Croydon management sort this out, totally disappointed on how its gone down.

User

I organised my daughter's 6th birthday party a few days ago at Tenpin Croydon and it was a complete disaster due to very poor customer service and one of the lanes not working. We had booked for 12 pm; we were moved up and down the lanes for half an hour, as no staff member seemed to know where we were supposed to play; one of the two lanes we finally managed to play on blocked twice, leaving 6 disappointed children to look around for around 20 minutes, while the staff was completely uninterested to my pleas to repair it as soon as possible; when we started the game we were supposed to be served 6 jugs of squash which didn't arrive until after the food was served at the end of the game, despite me asking for the drinks at the bar several times. The cake was also a total disappointment: in the morning I had rang the central booking line (there is no number to call the Ten Pin Croydon centre directly) and I was told that I would certainly be provided with plates, forks and napkins to serve the cake. Instead, after repeatedly having to ask for them, I was told that they don't have plates at all, only napkins. Thank God I had brought my own "just in case". Although I complained throughout this sad experience, no member of staff ever came around in the two hours we played there to ask how we were doing. After the party, I complained once again to the manager, and I only received a £10 refund, which is too little given that I had paid more than £150. Sadly, I didn't get to enjoy spending time with my daughter because I was constantly chasing the waitress or the manager or some other member of staff just to get the service I had paid for, and I had been looking forward to having fun with my little girl for such a long time! This is even more disappointing given that at least two other customers came to me as they overhead me complaining and told me that they would never go back either!

User

I attended the arcade section yesterday with my 2 young children. Being half term it was very busy. After a fight to get the the cash machine which is placed by the reception (at the back) we looked around at the games. Around 5 10p slot machines were broken and would just drop the money at the bottom. Secondly the transformer shooting game spat my money straight back out which couldn't be retreived as the returns slot was so jammed with other people's money. Searched for someone to address this matter. Couldn't find a soul. After numerous money wasting games we decided to cash our tickets in for a prize. Around 10 out of 20 items were out of stock. I left with 2 grumpy kids and an empty purse . I won't be returning !

For a popular facility in a busy place like Croydon it would thrive if there were more staff, better hygeine and if things were fixed/serviced regularulary !

Expensive food and drink, lot's of things for everyone to do, the bowling is not bad, but the music is far too loud. It's not very nice having to shout at your friends/family to make yourself heard.

Line was foulty and it took 45 min to them to sort it out and there wasnt comunication between staff.. didnt want to let us to change the line as apparently all lines were booked when we could see like 10 of them free and couple broken... use to like to go bowling there but after this visit no more...
