We went on a little home visit to do this engine de-carbonising TerraClean.
Our customer was complaining of poor mpg and sluggish/lagging acceleration.

Another DPF Clean and fault free diesel motor!
This VW Caddy came to us after the AA were called out due to the van being in limp mode from too much exhaust back pressure!
We inspected everything on this van and it turns out that the van had no faults, it was just short journeys causing it to clog up! They hadn’t had the van long and didn’t know the history of it.
... After we cleaned the DPF we have them some simple advise to give the van a good half an hour run a week to give it time to get up to temperature and perform it’s own regens.
DPF problems???? Don’t ignore the light and let it get into limp mode. This can make the prices spiral!

DPF CLEAN ūüßľ
This Mazda 5 came in on Saturday with a DPF light. After diagnosing, it was apparent that the oil service hadn’t been reset! Oil level was high (as the do on these) which in turn stops the car from doing automatic regens.
What did we do?
... Sent the owner to the local motor factors to grab 5L of the CORRECT grade oil (also essential on these engines) and an oil filter. We dropped the oil, put the fresh filter on, topped up with new oil and reset the values..... FREE OF CHARGE might I add, cause we are kind like that ūüėČ
Then carried out the DPF clean and forced regen. All lights are out and the car is running sweet again.
We never just do a clean without diagnosing the cause first, this would be a waste of our time, reputation and the money of the customer.

ūüõĎ BLOCKED DPF 2013 2.2L TRANSIT ūüõĎ

We had this transit come in just after Christmas, engine management light was on and diagnosed as a blocked DPF.
... Staight away we perform a scan that confirms high soot load in the DPF.
But why?????? A blocked DPF is usually a symptom but could be down to style of driving. From experience we know that these have vaporiser systems to heat the exhaust temperature during a regen. Basically a small pump, injector and glow plug just before the DPF.
We start a regen on the van and the highest the temp gets to is 485 degrees c. These need to hit at least 600 degrees to burn the soot off. This then confirms the vaporiser is blocked, but we quickly check the pump that’s working fine.
New vaporiser ordered, clean the DPF, take it for a good blast up the bypass and then perform a forced regen.
The sootload on this transit was 147% when it came to us, it left here on 8% and will now do it‚Äôs own regens as it should ūüĎćūüŹĽ

Although we understand that these vehicles are not built for racing or screaming up the hills, we thought we would offer some money saving advice ūüėČ
When you set off on your holidays, usually this doesn‚Äôt involve racing to get to your destination. A nice leisurely drive, taking in the scenery and enjoying your trip. ... Diesel engines need to have a ‚Äúblow out‚ÄĚ to clear all the nasty carbon builds ups. Driving every trip at low revs really doesn‚Äôt do your engine any good ūüėē I know it defeats the object of a leisurely drive but this could lead to this.
This customer came to us with major issues! It had an engine management light on, in limp mode and a REALLY poorly engine! It turns out they had driven 1500 miles back from Europe with the light on, not knowing it was in limp mode because of their style of driving.
It had a majorly blocked DPF, this had then backed up to the EGR valve, inlet manifold was practically blocked (see picture) MAP sensor was pretty clogged up also!
When these perform a regen of the DPF, the revs need to be around 3000 rpm for around 15-20 mins. He told us he doesn’t take it above 2000 rpm.
There is a preventative measure we can offer, an annual DPF clean, this costs £290.00 to ensure the DPF is fully clear. Along with this we will give the whole system a full health check and inspection. We never clean anything without physically inspecting it first.
Is £290 worth it every year????
After a deep DPF clean, new EGR valve, new MAP sensor, new pressure sensor this cost the owner over ¬£1500 ūüėĪ the owner has said he will be back every year now as a preventative.
A lot of people think DPF’s are a pain in the backside, they are if you don’t understand them. If they are clear and a combination of driving habits and good quality fuel, you shouldn’t have any issues..... more importantly DON’T IGNORE THOSE WARNING LIGHTS!!!!
This motorhome only had 30,000 miles on the clock.

We had the 2014 Zafira back this week after diagnosing the issues and coming up with a plan.
‚ĚĆ LIMP MODE ‚ĚĆ BLOCKED DPF ‚ĚĆ CLOGGED UP TURBO ... ‚ĚĆ INLET MANIFOLD CLOGGED
Unfortunately, the severity of the carbon build up in this was so substantial there was only one option recommenced for this and it was a full clean!
It was a little tricky as diagnosing this one was quite simple.... DPF light came on and they didn‚Äôt get a chance to clear it ūüėĶ. Simple then, DPF blocked, this in turn clogged the turbo, inlet manifold etc etc....
What did we do???? We grabbed our toolbox and got to work ūüßį

Turns out there was no vacuum to the turbo actuator. Stripped down, cleaned all pipes and rebuilt and hey presto..... we gave boost again. But chicken and egg moment, did this clog up because the DPF blocked? Or did this go first and put the car into limp mode causing the DPF to block????
The main thing is, it’s all fixed and we have another happy customer!

Vauxhall Zafira also with BIG carbon issues!
We had this Zafira SRi in today for a diagnosis, this had the same engine in that the Insignia had that left 10 mins prior to this arriving.
Before we complete any work, we ALWAYS check everything first and contact the customer to let them know what we had found.
... Unfortunately, this one had got a little more pool than the Insignia, it was in limp mode :(
EGR heavily sooted, DPF soot load 86%, Inlet manifold identical to the insignia, but this poor turbo was that clogged, it would hardly spin.
We can get this back to normal operation, the customer was free to come and collect their car along with the bad news. But he is booking in for the full works next week including an engine carbon clean.
Remember guys, give them diesels a good old thrash and be sure to get those DPF's regenerating.
You could always book in for a precautionary DPF clean before it gets this bad. If the light is coming on regular then we would advise this as a course of action. We can get this with one clean, once its blocked...... the price nearly doubles!

Vauxhall Insignia with BIG carbon issues.
This job was referred from a garage local to us. They had spent the day cleaning off the EGR valve. To then notice the Inlet manifold clogged up also.
Once we received it, we got straight to work checking everything. We found the inlet to be seriously loaded with carbon build up and the DPF also nearly blocked!
... All this had been caused by a faulty temperature sensor.
Without the exhaust gas temp sensor working, the car would not perform a DPF regen. This meant that the DPF was blocking, then the EGR, Inlet Manifold & Turbo!

Audi A4 with turbo issues! Let us work our magic and get it back to how it should be.
This car wouldn't boost until just over 3000 rpm, would then throw up an over boost fault and go into limp mode under load.
... Full turbo clean at the cost of £150.00 and its back to running normally :)
