This is Bumble, my fluffy assistant belonging to one of my clients. He didn't want to miss out so he massaged the legs while I worked on the back. Although not ideal for those of you with allergies, it is a very calming thing having a cat snuggle on you...maybe I should start training my cat Bertie?? 😻

Yesterday I massaged a young woman called Chloë with advanced Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, who had been bed-bound for the past 5 weeks and suffers acute pain. EDS is a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue and, in cases of vascular EDS, can be fatal. Most commonly, it makes patients hyper-mobile but this is not a convenient boost in flexibility, it means suffering frequent incredibly painful dislocations - often several in a day - as well as gastrointes...tinal problems and many other associated conditions. Massage is a very useful tool to managing the symptoms, but must be gentle and some positions are best to be avoided. Do you suffer with EDS, or know someone who does?
