Out on the Thames on a baking hot Sunday in our little speedboat with 3 children on board (11, 13 and 14), we managed to find a suitable mooring outside and arrived about 2:30pm. Although it was really busy, amazingly there was no queue at the bar to order and we chose a table outside.

Only had drinks, a starter and a dessert which arrived quickly and almost all at the same time. They’d run out of the passion fruit sorbet but offered a great alternative. The dough sticks were delicious and my eldest son said the chocolate brownie was the best he’d ever tasted, which for someone that eats several brownies a week is high praise indeed.

Staff did look a bit overworked and the lovely girl behind the bar was actually asking to be relieved as she felt she was going to pass out from being on shift for hours and not had a break or anything to eat!

Apart from that and the fact that tables were just not getting cleared fast enough, the lovely location and easy access by boat made it a very pleasant experience and the kids loved it.

I’m sure a few more staff would make a world of difference and they did a great job considering. We’ll certainly be back.

nice location thats about it. i understand it was a sunday and the sun was out but maybe a bit of forward planning with the rota to make sure there was plenty of staff on might help in future. after stand in queue for 20mins to order food only seemed to be 3 people serving and the queue was out the door! then had to wait 45mins to get our good which come out in stages. the waitress had taken my brother's order to the table next to us who hadnt ordered food. when she brought it over it was wrong. they took that back and brought the same food out 10mins later, still wrong!! when i finally got my meal the only thing on the plate that was hot was the pot of extra roast potatoes!! but i was so hungry after waiting so long i ate it didnt want to have to wait another 40mins for food. i feel sorry for your waiters and waitresses how are getting moaned at by customers about the long wait and wrong food. the glasses from ther previous customer were sat on the end of our table for good 45mins, was only after we asked the waitress if she could take them away were they moved. we were planning on have a dessert but decided not to as we didnt want queue for 20mins, to be waiting another 45mins for it and it being wrong or being served melted ice cream from the wait. after this experience it doesn't make me want to return

Beautiful location, but food is very very average and overpriced. A chicken club sandwich was all bread, one small little gem lettuce leaf and very fatty bacon. Kale and cauliflower cous cous salad (£14) was missing pumpkin seeds and long stem broccoli and had about 5 pomegranate seeds. When I asked about this, boiled broccolli (from the roast dinners) was put on the plate with a few pumpkin seeds and came from a very disgruntled waiter. We would go for a drink again but not to eat.

What a total shambles of a place! I visited for Sunday lunch with family and I can honestly say it was the worst pub experience of my life. It was a hot, sunny day which meant that it was busy - but the staff were too few and too incompetent to deal with the situation.

Firstly, we had a table outside which had not been cleared of the previous guests’ used plates and glasses - and there were a lot of them. I politely asked four separate members of staff if they could clear it but they didn’t. After an hour, I cleared it myself (it took 5 trips to the bar and back).

I waited half an hour in a queue at the bar to order food. The food took 50 mins to arrive, but worst of all, they only brought out one of three meals, a sharing platter, in spite of me asking very clearly that all food be brought to the table at the same time (and I was told upon ordering, that was no problem). The platter was appalling, it was certainly not worth the £16 I was charged. The tiny kebabs were burnt and the flatbread dried out. The 4 pieces of calamari were nothing but overcooked shreds of batter.

I asked no less than five times where our other dishes were but the waiting staff who supposedly went off to investigate, never returned with an explanation.

At this point, I went to the bar to ask for a refund but the queue was out the door, so I managed to locate the manager. He went off to investigate and said that the platter has been mistakenly put through as a starter. It was now an hour and ten minutes after said platter had been delivered to our table, so this wait time was unacceptable, regardless!

The manager gave a feeble apology and said that the other meals would come out “in 3-4 minutes”, and that he would come to our table to apologise to my very hungry 9 year old. It was a further 15 minutes before the missing meals emerged and I couldn’t believe it when one of the meals was wrong (a dry and tough roast turkey instead of beef). They offered to swap it but I was not going to wait another hour for that! And of course the manager never did show up with his promised apology to my son.

This visit was supposed to be a real treat for the family. We would have had way more fun with a sandwich by the river. I’ve wasted 3 hours of my life and £45 on this place. Never again!

The riverside setting is beautiful but this reeks of somewhere which coasts on its location and makes no effort whatsoever with customer service.
