Well done to all the children in 1T who completed our latest challenge to find out why snakes shed their skin and what snakes like to eat. All of the children researched and wrote down the answers and Alfie brought in his Bearded Dragon skin to show the children. Extra house points to you all. 👏

Year 1 would like to say a huge Thankyou to The Creepy Crawly Roadshow for introducing us to some very special woodland creatures. We met Merlin the Barn Owl, an African Millipede and some beautiful butterflies. The children and teachers were able to ask lots of questions and learn lots of interesting facts about each of them.

The Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed meeting our woodland animals this afternoon. They were all so grown up, well behaved and asked some fabulous questions that they had written the day before.

As part of our Enchanted Woodland Topic Year 1 visited Salisbury Wood. The children identified lots of Evergreen and Deciduous Trees, found a lovely stream, bird boxes and were very excited to discover a WW11 Gun Shelter complete with a soldier on top. The children got very wet but had a lovely afternoon.

Matthew brought a snake skin in to show the children in 1T today. The skin is from one of the pet snakes he has at home. The children asked Matthew lots of questions about the snakes and this led to Mrs B setting another class challenge. Todays Challenge is to find out what snakes eat and why they shed their skin? Extra house points for any children who write down the answers and any other interesting snake facts they discover. 🐍

Well done and extra house points to these children for completing our class challenge to research where bats live and what they like to eat. Alfie is enjoying our Enchanted Woodland Topic so much that he found lots of books about bats and other woodland animals in his lovely books at home. Alfie has kindly brought the books into school to show his class mates.

This week is Anti Bullying Week and 1T have been learning how using unkind actions, words and hands can hurt and bruise others. We used kind words and actions to one of our apples and were unkind to the other. Both apples still looked the same on the outside but when we looked on the inside one of our apples was badly bruised by our unkind actions. All the children agreed it was much nicer to be a happy apple.

My daughter loves her school. At the time of this writing, she's only missed a half day (due to being sent home ill) since she started, in September 2014. Her favourite teacher was her teacher in Reception, Miss Holland. She's hoping to have her again for Year 2. Fingers crossed!

The staff here all do a great job. Any problems, or questions I've ever had, it's a simple message here, or on Twitter and it has always been answered.
