Travelling to the EU with a UK passport
In a no-deal scenario, a paper on travelling to the EU warns that British citizens will be “considered a third country national,” and that their passports will need to comply with specific rules under the EU’s Schengen Border Code if they are travelling to the border-free area within the bloc. Third-country passports must have been issued within the past 10 years and have three months validity remaining.
The paper also notes that the go...vernment will start issuing long-awaited blue British passports in late 2019. “If you renew your passport between late 2019 and early 2020, you’ll be automatically issued with either a blue or burgundy British passport,” it says.

The Prime Minister recently announced a new English language requirement for family route migrants seeking to extend their stay in the UK.
Non-EEA national partners and parents on the family route will need to pass a speaking and listening test at level A2 in order to qualify, after two and a half years in the UK, for further leave to remain on the five-year partner or parent route to settlement.
We recognise the need to give those affected sufficient time to prepare for the new test, which is why the new requirement will not be implemented before October 2016.
