Having just done a two big events at the weekend one of my biggest bug bears about being a florist is how guilty I feel about the floral waste, that said when I am making designs I try to waste as little as possible, I always try to find a use for left over foliage & flowers, even if it gets put into a jam jar with water or the petals get dried & made into flower confetti. The materials that can not be reused get composte...d here at Kings Head Cottage, the home of Thatch & Bloom. I run a green waste policy & non floral foam policy. And recycle as much of the packaging the flowers arrive in as possible. I am so pleased to share some pictures with you, the rose heads that were used in the Lucy Amdur’s 21st Birthday designs are indeed now being turned into confetti & that most of the foliage & flowers from Ruth Leveson Chuppah & Wedding at the weekend was very kindly donated by her & Terry to my friend Ursula Stone who runs the Flower Hub in New Barnet, called The Flower Bank. Ursula is amazing & all the flowers she receives from donation are reused & made into new designs to benefit her community & also the Young offender & Dementia group, she does weekly workshops with. So here are the pictures to show what happened to the materials from the Ruth Leveson & Terry’s Chuppah, ready for reuse at Ursula’s hub. #theflowerbank www.theflowerbank.org.uk
