amazing place, I came in with my camera crew as we was filming in Birmingham and as the rain came down on a Saturday afternoon we all rushed in to the alchemist :) nice and warm, food drinks staff on point and friendly, we will be coming again :) thanks x

Went for brunch with a friend and her little baby girl. Staff were great about the baby and the food was very tasty. I would definitely go back of an evening and try some of their cocktails and more food.

Went for brunch today, me and my partner are awkward vegan monsters but the staff were super accommodating and sorted us out with some lovely breakfasts - delicious and generous portions. Cocktails were all fantastic. We were also able to sit outside with my dog who had plenty of water and fuss provided. Every member of staff we dealt with were fantastic. Service was really prompt too.



The whole place looks stunning inside as well. Really, really loved it. Definitely worth every penny spent there.

Beautiful establishment and the food was sublime. Defo recommendo.

One of the most amazing places to get drinks, all the staff are amazing. The general manager is one of the nicest people I have met, he had finished work but was still happy to help customers out and spend time talking to us about our experience! Would highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been already!!

One of my favourite places in town. I love the cocktails here but had never eaten until last night. I had the Katsu chicken and it was lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful a lively place thank you

Not a huge plate of food but probably enough and very tasty, I had the panko chicken with rice and crispy kale and a side order of house salad. The curry sauce was on the side which is great for a dieter like me because I just used it as a dip. The sparkling water was complimentary and the service very friendly and efficient. I would eat here again when I’m next over. Oh! And had a choice of one shot or two in my coffee. What’s there not to like �����

Me and my husband got a rare evening to ourselves so reserved a table Saturday night for his bday/our wedding anniversary!We can’t believe what an experience it was!Fab atmosphere,food was the best we’ve had in a LONG time,bar staff are so quick and efficient it was so interesting to watch all the cocktails being made,Waiting staff were a delight,so friendly and made us surprise cocktails as we couldn’t choose in the end!The Cocktails were just unreal,so much choice and really good prices too!!!!Cant wait to come back again!Would highly recommend!!!�

Absolutely brilliant night last night! Staff were really helpful and informative about the food (my friend had a nut allergy) and really knowledgeable about the all the cocktails. Atmosphere and music was awesome and food was delicious. Will definitely be coming back soon �

Took my 2 daughters and best friend there to celebrate her 30th birthday..managed to get a table had 4 fab cocktails great service

Second time I’ve been here, and the first time I’ve eaten here. Cocktails were all lovely, and the theatre of them was great too. I had the chicken katsu which was delicious. The service was a little slow and we could barely hear the person serving us (the music maybe) hence 4* instead of 5*.

Booked a table for mother’s day. Food was good and staff helpful and attentive. First time here would definitely come again especially for the gin and cocktails amazing .

Went for birthday drinks with two friends last night, one of whom does not drink alcohol. We were served quite quickly as the bar was not as busy as I have seen it before. No deals on cocktails which was a shame, so we perused the menu and selected a non alcoholic cocktail and asked the barman for it to which he replied you do know that’s non alcoholic right, well yes I’ve been reading since I was 4, so I explained yes that’s what we wanted. We then asked whether we could order a sweet martini and lemonade, he looked incredulous at this request obviously thinking we were talking about a martini cocktail. So I explained again, no we wanted the dark martini with lemonade to which he replied I don’t think you know what you’re talking about � if we hadn’t already had one drink served we would have left by then. We switched choices for the final two drinks and paid £17 for our troubles. I appreciate the barmans mixology knowledge is probably superior to mine but I don’t appreciate the condescending manner it was delivered, not least when it was HE who did not know what he was talking about on this occasion.

Bar is refreshingly different, staff a little pretentious (by this experience), toilets are lovely but music is very loud (not good for chatting) and tends to get super busy on weekends, though not this time. Won’t be rushing back.

My husband reserved a table for the live lab for my birthday for us and a friend and her partner. on arrival the waitress seated us at the bar, the room was almost empty when asked if we could move to a table the waitress was hesitant to let us but relented. The service was very slow saying hardly anyone was in! When the cocktails finally arrived they were amazing. The live music was amazing. Once we tried all we wanted to on the live lab menu we asked the witnesses if we could get a drink from upstairs and bring it down as we were enjoying the music to be told no, the waitress told us if you want off that menu you have to stay upstairs, which was a shame as the music was really good. At this point we decided to leave.

I love the alchemist but they have little to no support for those with dietary requirements. I’d emailed about this but seemingly it’s not on their agenda as I’ve had no acknowledgement or response which is a little disappointing.

When somebody is over from NYC you want to take them to the best cocktail in Birmingham, or so you think.



Girl seemed friendly enough on the bar. Ordered our drinks... We are chatting away and as she was cutting my orange for the Negroni she SNEEZED all over it and the chopping board. I tried to HOPE my slice had been missed... thought as its for decor not in the drink, trying not to make a fuss. THEN I start to TRY and enjoy it and there was a big black hair floating around in it...so I was like “excuse me, this is in my drink” - she snatched it back off me to make another. No apology.



THEN she started playing with her eyes, full on digging away in the corners and pulling at her eyelids at one point even rolled something out of her eye between her fingers. I mean, no hygiene training at all it seems?



We couldn’t cope, we walked out... love spending £15 on two drinks to have to leave. Really bad experience, a disgrace in fact ��

Turned away from the door today at 4pm because my mom was wearing a baseball cap due the fact she is going threw 3 years of cancer treatment and has lost all her hair. Absolutely disgusting. Basically discrimination because she suffers from cancer. Nice one Alchemist top job �

The worst Long Island Iced Tea I’ve ever had. Made from a pre mix and far too much lemon juice added. We took them back and explained and he begrudgingly remade them exactly the same way so didn’t really see the point. We finally had to get a refund and left the drinks as they were really that bad and that is my favourite cocktail so have drank many to know what they are supposed to taste like. And the service throughout was poor, load of kids behind the bar that couldn’t give a toss. At £16 for two cocktails, they should be made from scratch like in most other places and by someone that knew what they were doing. Really disappointing.
