We have been eating at The Anchor Inn for about 3 years now and last had my husband's 50th there. Food was amazing, all 16 of us were served at the same time, the staff couldn't do enough for us. If your ever in the area, the pub is an absolute must visit!!

User

We came across this pub as I had seen a friends Facebook page with a HUGE sharing platter , although we didn't have that my son had the fish a chips which was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty he said, I had mussels with a sauce called Orkney it came with chips and chunky bread which in all was very filling. With a nice cold drink and the view of the harbour it was a very nice experience which I am going to repeat next week !

User

The perfect pub, great views, great food, especially the sea food and baked Brie, after 6 years of visiting this wonderful little place it is very hard to beat, the service is excellent also, a real Devon Gem, miss it at your peril.

User

Superb atmosphere, great staff, great customers and such a wonderful view. Thank you for such a lovely evening after a gruelling 9 hour drive from Essex

Recommended by another camper at cofton, and I would recommend it to anyone. Absolutely awesome food, and lovely staff. Our server was Matt aka Bob (if it was a bad review) he was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Thank you.

User

Outstanding pub food, varied menu, fresh ingredients well prepared and served. Good choice of beers / ciders, wine list a bit limited for aficionados but OK. They accommodated our group of eight no problem, well co-ordinated kitchen service everything turning up hot at the same time. Portions were very generous. Any seafood nuts should try this place and the variety of mussel recipes is enough to keep any shellfish fan happy for a week of non stop dining. Staff courteous and prompt. Highly recommendable.

User

Our son and daughter in law took us there for sunday lunch on about the hottest day of this year. Absolutely fabulous food and service. Tje mussel dishes we chose were the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

User

One of my and my husbands best eating places when we go on holiday ,usually twice a year , some evenings just a snack and a drink then one night the full works ,never fails us ,excellent food ,good service, and lovely chilled atmosphere well worth a visit 😀😀🍺🍺

User

Just moved to the area and had heard great things about the Anchor Inn. We hadn't realised it was their Halloween event, but had a great meal and enjoyed the evening. We didn't know anyone, but hopefully will get to know a few more people before we come along next year! Thank you for a wonderful evening.

User

I had a great meal there with my wife, the food, all of it was fantastic, I had the slow roast pork belly served on peppers, onion in a cream and sherry sauce served with fresh vegetables and roast new potatoes, what a change from the usual menus you find, staff were great and so was the service, if you want cheap fast food go to mac Donald's, if you want good food at a good price go here, compliments to your chef ! 👌👍

User

Have visited the Anchor on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We have always received excellent service from the staff and the food there is absolutely fantastic.

User

Excellent food love it here! The Sunday roast was so good. Along with my partners fish pie to die for!! It’s my fave place to eat

User

Driven past this pub for years! Thought it was a tiny place - wrong. Food & service excellent we've now been twice & will continue to dine here we only live a few miles away & well worth the journey HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

User

Beautiful setting right by the harbour and absolutely gorgeous interior. The food was amazing and we were made to feel very welcome and the staff were lovely! Would definitely visit again and recommend to family and friends.

Back in Derby we have a pub similar to this, ironically called The Exeter, but what The Anchor has over this is a beautiful outlook and a more natural old feel. When we called you had 6 real ales on, which is brilliant as coming from a real ale paradise city, it is difficult to find pubs with more than 1 or 2 real ales plus Doombar on. We didn't eat but the food looked appetizing and not expensive. I like your 3, 1/3 ale thingy as well. We will return when we next frequent your wonderful county again 🖒

User

After being told they were fully booked (129 covers) we were offered a table upstairs to take our drinks to. Within 10 minutes we were offered menus and water for our table. The food was outstanding as was the service. Rosa our waitress was brilliant, very switched on. Would def recommend to others and return myself. Well done all the staff at the Anchor

User

Absolutely fantastic!! Had booked a table for the evening after reading good reviews, but after catching the ferry back from Exmouth to Starcross decided to stop for a late lunch to try it out. The hubby and I shared the Landlords platter starter which was a mix of antipasti and seafood. It was really delicious, well presented and plentiful. We sat outside at a table overlooking the small harbour, couldn't have been more perfect .

When we went back in the evening my husband wasn't too happy with the small, cramped table they presented to us , but they moved us to the upstairs restaurant with minimum fuss , our meals were divine ( scallops in a spiced rum sauce for me , perfectly cooked steak for the hubby) and the dessert was just as good. Our waitress was delightful, if slightly scatty , which added to our amusement .The drinks were also reasonably priced. Overall , the best evening.

User

A lovely, lively staff - great food always, and very well presented, hot and delicious. And support for The Helen Foundation local youth arts charity - with an Anchor Inn family link from schooldays, these guys are among our staunchest supporters since our daughter’s untimely car accident and our tragic loss of her.
