Beautiful sunset this evening. #nofilter needed
Sunset season is well and truly underway. No need for any filters here - what an absolute stunner!!
Tonight's the night! Big boss man, Sarah, Dina and JP are at the Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Awards representing the #anchorarmy
We have been nominated for best pub, up against some other amazing local places. Fingers crossed!
Sunrise this morning over the misty hill. Looks like we're in for another beautiful day! Who is joining us?
The sun sets on another lovely Seatown day. We love you Dorset!
Putting the Sun in Sunday! A nice surprise after the last few days of wind and rain. 😎🌅🌄☀️
This dish is flying out already tonight.... pan fried fillet of bass, mixed garden beans, buttered new potatoes & salsa verde #fishyfriday
We are very sorry but due to a technical issue our kitchen is closed for the afternoon. We will update this evening. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.
And here it is. Our first official delivery from Chideock Champignons - delicious mushrooms grown about a mile away in North Chideock. You can’t get much more local than that! Thanks chaps 🙏
Locally sourced Thornback Ray wing served with Palourde Clams and samphire. One from our specials board this afternoon.
What a gorgeous afternoon! Busy day at the office. Are any of you in this panorama of our beer garden?
On the specials board for lunch today..... pan fried skate wing with chorizo, new potatoes and will be finished with cockles and samphire.....
Summer is on its way out, so we have waved bye bye to Colmers on draft. . but a happy return to the delicious Copper ale. Fancy one?
Thanks to Patrick Chiverton - Session/Dep Guitarist for the 📸
We may be a bit biased but is there a better pub beer garden in the UK?
And the sun sets at the end of a beautiful Bank Holiday Saturday.....
And here they are. Our first batch of locally grown, gorgeous pink oyster mushrooms from the amazing chaps just up the road at Chideock Champignons.....
We can't wait to see what Chef is gonna do with them!
A smiley, happy drayman. You don’t normally see that at 7 o’clock in the morning! The beer is in. Come on then #bankholiday.... let’s have it!!
It’s a bouillabaisse kinda night tonight....
A cracking snap taken last night by our very own Bossman.... who else was lucky enough to catch last nights sunset?
not just an ordinary pub, subject to resent changes over the past few years this pub is now moved its menu upmarket, no more the cheaper end of the market with ham & eggs & lasagna, the new menu is great for refined dining in the evening, through the day go for the sandwiches & rolls for economy, still a great pub in an ideal spot.
We visited the Anchor Inn after the huge snow storm which hit the Seatown on 1st March. So we managed to visit on the 10th & 11th March. They were friendly, polite and the food was outstanding. They went the extra miles to cater for my rather long list of food which I cannot eat;which was amazing. On the second evening visit; after realising I could not eat the dairy free rice pudding dish I had said I wouldn't have pudding. Without even asking them the chef made up some rice pudding that I could actually eat (my first rice pudding dish for about 4 years +). Would recommend to anyone and everyone as a great place to eat. Thank you The Anchor Inn
The food isn’t any normal pub food, it’s full of flavour, homemade, fresh and of the best quality and the staff look after you like you are part of their family
Lovely pub in a beautiful setting. What better place to enjoy a cold pint on a summers day 😁
Incrediblely beautiful location, great food & excellent value for money. Great service & friendly, helpful staff. I would certainly recommend & visit again when I’m down seeing friends.
Great pub in an amazing location with lovely staff who were very proud of the place. We stayed last weekend and apart from the green safety light that was way to bright in our room and we couldn't switch it off, we really felt very spoilt and would certainly return again.
Great location, nice food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. The only gripe - the cheese board states it comes with fruit and veg. I would have expected celery, apple or pear - I got a spring onion and a few blueberries... But I'm quibbling... defiantly go again!
First time stay & Could not have been better! Ticked all boxes: very clean, wonderful staff, excellent food, amazing location. Not to be missed. We will return for sure. We’re from the US , and love your pubs!!
Delicious anniversary lunch today, matched by a great view.
So glad we persevered with the half hour tailback of traffic caused by the road works in Chideock - it's worth it!
Came back after spreading my Grandfathers ashes a few years ago on the cliff top, and I am glad to say the quality of food and hospitality has not changed - Excellent service, great food and an amazing view to enjoy whilst eating.
Great work
Best pub in the UK. Great food, amazing views and fantastic atmosphere. Recommend 110%!
Always 5 star come rain or shine and the food is fantabulous- just what you need mid Way through a 12 mile walk! I will keep on recommending you guys without hesitation
Very good food, lovely sunny day and there was a Raven in the Beer garden !
The location is great, the beer and cider was great and the meal was great but a little expensive.
Visited here last night , beautiful location , food was good but the service was so bad and sloppy
Tables left with dirty plates and food , asked the waitress twice if it could be cleaned before it was done , food took 45 minutes to arrive and other people were complaining they had been waiting for over an hour! The female member of staff behind the bar needs to stop standing drinking and help serve , queues of customers waiting to order food and she did nothing
Shame as it had been recommended as great venue
Very poor service-get your own cutlery, shout out for table numbers.Batter on fish tasted awful. At £50 for fish and chips I can get better from a stall at West Bay. Last year we had a superb meal at the Anchor and visited today to replicate the holiday experience with my daughter. What a good job the sun was shining and we enjoyed the beach, and fantastic setting.
The Location is excellent of that there is no doubt. However I feel the sandwiches are on the expensive side for what you get. No salad, no crisps, etc. When you are paying £8 and above, I think it’s fair to say that your plate should have more on it than a sandwich/ baguette and a bit of coleslaw.
Good pub food,(and that is what it is, pub food, so a bit pricey) lovely setting, good that you get the £5 car park fee back if you spend over £20 in the pub. Must be popular as was not only packed, but bursting at the seams with lunchtime visitors, which needs attention somehow to sort out the incredible shortage of space & seating indoors, as you have to be ready to jump into someones grave and then put up with clearing used glasses/crockery yourself and other punters leaning over your table while you are eating, so although a nice lunch, not a great experience overall.
We are local and use the anchor as part of our walks as a family, unfortunately not there best today, my wife had to send her meal back, if the meal contains chilli and the meat is smoked it really should say that on the menu. She ordered another dish which was fine, my son had the mussels, the quality of which were questionable and very gritty...he ate half of them. My burger and chips was pretty tasteless and barely hot...chargrilling would have made a huge difference, chips were just about cooked. I left half the chips and a bit of the burger..it's such a shame ,last season the quality of food was fine and the views from Anchor are outstanding
