Really enjoy my meal every time I visit the banyan tree. I'm vegan, and they always know what I can eat - and offer a good, varied choice

My family had a great night New Year’s Eve. A set tasting menu which was amazing. Really friendly staff and atmosphere. Definitely recommend it

I come here all the time when I'm working in Peterborough! I've been to a few other places in the area with colleagues and we all agree Banyan is number one. Great service, always get looked after - I just need to say "the usual", couldn't recommend it enough.

I can consider this visit as successful. After lunch at "The Banyan Tree" I am able to write that I was satiated and spend time in a great atmosphere.

A typical Indian music that gives the climate. The decor also allows you to feel like in India.

Men who served me meals was professional and very kind and attentive.I do not know, but maybe because I was alone, I was often asked if food tasted good I think that this is an advantage. Everyone working there, except for the waiter, is from India so I believe that no one is able to undermine the taste of meals.

For appetizer I ordered 'Veg Manchurian' (spicy vegetable dumplings wok fried with eastern spices and a little twist of the orient) always as I order the appetizers their taste knocks me down in a positive sense, it was also this time. Delicious, so I recommend it! I asked for a dish that reflects India and the waiter recommended it to me 'Bhuna Ghost'(succulent lamb slow cooked in a medium heat massala with whole spices and

a hint of caramelised onions.) I was not disappointed, the dish was good and in my taste.I recommend this dish because I feel the spices that are important to me.

For the dessert I ordered a specialty from India 'pistachio mother kulfi'(pistachio ice cream in a pot) served in a special dish. I also sipped 'Mango Lassi' .

All dishes were served very nice.

The waiting time is good and affordable prices.

First time I've returned since receiving really poor service just after it opened. Have to say it was the best Indian I've had in ages and the service was absolutely superb, wish I hadn't left it so long for a return visit. Will definitely be going back soon..!!

User

Fantastic food and friendly service. Recommended.

Best curry I’ve had in ages and that’s saying something. Great selection of normal to the unusual dishes on offer. We came away smiling but waddling.

User

Awesome food. Great quality. Lovely flavours. We had the £30 taster menu. Was worth every penny and more.

User

Had the very good value lunch menu. Received good friendly service and the food was really tasty. Would recommend.

User

Fabulous restaurant, first time there but we had a special menu, we were there for a charitable cause and they cooked something off menu (I think), drinks are a little expensive but the food was fantastic and service impeccable.

User

Service was excellent unfortunately no 'dry' dishes on the menu, wasn't impressed with the keema naan although the peshwari was lovely. I thought it was average

The meal we just had at the Banyan Tree, was at best mediocre, my wife had a lamb biriyani apparently people rate it very high, well my wife asked if I'd like a taste which I did and I have to say the lamb tasted nothing like any lamb I'd ever eaten before totally tasteless, the only good thing I can say is the peshwari naan was nice. The bar staff have a problem with the English language,(eastern european). And the service was terrible, we were asked by one eastern european waitress if we wanted the desert menu and we hadn't even had our mains as they were very slow with the service, sometimes that can be a good thing but not as slow as the Banyan Tree, we won't be going back ever.

Good food but service was awful. We went on a Sunday and there were only two other tables of people there and plenty of staff but we were made to feel like an inconvenience. When they brought the poppadoms out they only brought 2 small plates for a group of 5 so we had to ask for extra. We had to ask to place our main course order. No one asked us how the food was. The staff spoke in an abrupt manner and no care when placing the food on the table. After we had worked out the split of the bill they came over with a different bill that was slightly more expensive and said they had made a mistake in giving us the last one. No sweets etc with the bill. I definitely won't be going back!!
