About The Barley Mow
Bristol Beer Factory’s Flagship pub, with 8 handpulls and 10 keglines showcasing the best beer from near and far, all set in a beautiful traditional pub.
The Barley Mow Description
Situated in an area of huge redevelopment, The Barley Mow is surrounded by a mixture of old terraced houses and new apartments. Five minutes from Temple Meads and Old Market, it's an area with a fast-changing demographic, as scrap metal yards and warehouses are replaced by smart offices and hotels.
A splendid double-fronted old pub with plenty of original features and character, The Barley Mow feels like a proper local as soon as you walk through the door. It has original floorboards and fireplaces, a simple bar with eight real ale handpulls and ten keg lines.
It feels both original and new at the same time and this is reflected in the huge cross-section of customers since it opened its doors.
Reviews
Due to unforeseen circumstances the kitchen will not be open for lunch today but normal service will resume at 5pm for dinner- the pub is open from 1200 as normal.

Lovely cask of goldings pale from Tiley’s fresh on today.
clean taps, great beer, lovely for a chat
We came to Bristol to sample some of the city's fine craft ales. I always start in the Barley Mow as it's close to Temple Meads and I always think that if we spent all night in there I wouldn't be disappointed. Great beers and food. A bit small so book if you need a table. You won't regret visiting this bar.
Too much rain to take the kids and bikes all the way to Bath, so a necessary pit-stop in the downpour for dominos, Trivial Pursuit and great grub!
The beer is exceptional, not just a bar full of similar IPA's and a token porter like some other pubs I could mention. Lots of choices, open fire, good music, friendly staff and cracking Sunday roast for £10. Just keep it schtum, yeah? or everyone will want to come.
Popped in for a quick lunch. Excellent choices, food was fantastic, fresh, and broad selection of veggie and vegan options!
10/10 would come again.
My favourite pub in Bristol, great beers from several local breweries, the food is always fantastic and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Massively recommend anyone to try it out.
Lovely cost pub and really friendly staff. Last night we arrived for food there was no tables inside so we sat outside ready to order, then the barman rushed out to tell us one was free. When we walked inside, they were setting the table up for us. We were really impressed by this and to top it off the food was really good as well - thank you :)
Lively pub. Good value and well cooked food..Good range of ales too. Cant complain :)
Oh and lots of Vegan and Vegetarian choice too if you don't like/want meat produce
Just had the best roast dinner ever.. my hubby want to order another one it was that good amazing
Great pub. Good beer, friendly staff and customers.
Great Cask, Craft, staff and Stax. Wanted to try all the beers but Arbor Rocketman held me tight in it's grasp.
Friendly staff, delicious food, a brilliant rotating selection of drink, a beyond knowledgable staff. It's like the neighbourhood living room that everyone's invited to whether or not it's their first visit or the daily stop- including dogs :)
Came in for drinks Friday and Sunday roast today, great relaxed atmosphere, superb selection of beers and good homely food. Staff clclearly knew the range of drinks and helped create a welcoming environment, would recommend to all!
Brilliant range of craft and cask ale, the most wonderfully friendly staff and the food is sublime
Best pub in suntfilips look innit me baber
Authentic street corner boozer with excellent ales and, on the occasion of my visit, a superb small producer Somerset Cider too. Convivial and cosy, and the staff clearly know and care about their products.
Amazing roast pork belly, great veggies, perfect sized portion. Best roast I've had in years, possibly best ever in a pub! Great beers too.
Staff and ale selection are first class.
Only gripe is that the food was considered by all in group to be expensive.
Nice little find today, been working mon-fri in Bristol for six months and only just found the pub around the corner from the hotel I’m staying in. Very interesting selection of craft beers, that I would’ve investigated harder had the most appealing not been so potent. (Work tomorrow!) What I did try was excellent. Food was spot on, outstanding Motown/Stax playlist on for the time I was in. Four stars for now as I was just feeling it out, I’m sure there’s five in the update since I’m here another year.
