Fantastic illustrated advertisements in The Penny Illustrated Paper of 1888.

Exciting times in the Book Chamber today. We have some thespians šŸŽ in filming some scenes for a new production! Maybe this is the right time for a cheeky cameo appearance šŸ˜‰

User

Another fantastic front page depicting the murder of Mary Kelly. The paper was a cheap weekly edition which ran from 1861 to 1913. We have a wonderful book which contains all the weekly editions in 1888.

Just one of the many wonderful pages contained within The Penny Illustrated Paper of 1888. This one depicts the scenes in Mitre Square and Berner Street left by Jack the Ripper.

User

Beautiful poetry book today entitled The Ring of Words. We only have the first book Iā€™m afraid but it is exquisite in its own right. A lovely gift for anyone.

User

Aaah the Barristerā€™s kind of book! šŸ˜‰

The Chamber is closed. Itā€™s peaceful and beautifully calm. I think Iā€™ll just stay here forever.

Join us for some wizarding fun!
On Sunday 28th October we will be holding our Harry Potter evening. Our last one was a great success so we are very happy to be repeating it. This time around it will be bigger and better with food, butter beer, chocolate frogs, jelly beans and much more. Not only will the new bigger shop be decorated throughout but we are also very proud to announce that this time around we will be joined by no less than three actors from the movies. Micha...el Henry (a Gringotts Goblin), Martin Ballantyne (associate to Mundungus) and, joining us again, Book Chamber favourite Paul Redfern (Ministry of Magic Wizard). They will all be on hand to give autographs, take photographs and answer questions etc. We will also be having a grand Potter quiz with prizes for the winners!
Many people missed out on a ticket last year due to the popularity of the event. Accordingly, this year your ticket will allow you TWO hours entry into the Book Chamber for just Ā£10 per person. First session will be 4.00-6.00pm and the second session will be 6.30-8.30pm. This will enable more of you to get your hands on that all important Hogwarts envelope!
Join us for a truly spectacular evening of fun and magic!
TICKETS GO ON SALE AT THE BOOK CHAMBER ON SATURDAY 29th SEPTEMBER @ 10.00am. Strictly on a first come first served basis to allow fairness to all! Tickets are limited and must be purchased in store.

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born in 1859. A physician famed for his novels he was a prolific writer of fantasy, science fiction and of course detective stories. He was also a fervent advocate of justice and personally investigated two closed cases, which led to two men being exonerated of the crimes of which they were accused.

Morning everyone. As a great fan of old movies I love pictures of film stars and if theyā€™re reading thatā€™s even better. Letā€™s have a bit of fun...who can name these two great film stars?

I visited this treasure today for afternoon tea with my daughter and what an incredible experience it was! The place is oozing with the charm of a cosy, quaint bookshop with lots of interesting rooms to explore and immerse yourself in a book in. The staff are so friendly and helpful (and excellent with children), creating a wonderful atmosphere. The food was delicious and our afternoon tea was tailor made to my daughter's specifications, with the added bonus of a little gift to take home!
