Yes you did read it right we are CLOSED today and EVERY SUNDAY until mid September. Our staff work incredible hard and with a general staff shortage throughout the industry in Cornwall we just can’t push them any harder. So to concentrate on the staff and you as customers we are closing on a Sunday through the summer. We do hope you understand and it would be lovely to see you any other day Monday to Saturday.

Don’t forget we are now closed on Sundays until mid sept. Open as usual Monday to Saturday

Curry leaves that tell a story...
👨‍🍳 Our chef, Reggie, returns home to India for the winter. These curry leaves have grown and been dried in his garden, they’re now winging their way back to the UK with Reggie along with some amazing spices that have been hand ground by his mum
🌿 He only likes to use the best ingredients in his curry and it doesn’t get much better than that
... 🍛 We can’t wait taste what’ll be on the menu next week, if you’ve ever been to one of our curry nights in the Autumn, you’ll know what we’re excited about!

Wonderful evening meals in the restaurant. We are going to Padstow in Kate January but they seem to be not answering calls. Are they closed?

We've eaten here on holiday a few times and the food has been excellent and the staff were great with our children. Thoroughly recommend.

We really enjoyed our Sunday Lunch here yesterday, the quality of the food was top notch, service was superb, and the price, given the location and quality seemed cheap! Would highly recommend this place.

Love this place, super food, fab staff, great vibe and the best fish finger sandwiches ever!!!! Outside area is also dog friendly and is toasty and warm too. �

Love the basement it is in a great location and the cooking is great but have reservations! The review status doesn't allow me to reflect this! Lovely food but strangely managed! Sunday lunch is superb but not often available and desserts are virtually non existent!! It could be absolutely great but so much is wrong! Needs a proper shake up in the organization of the place and it could be truly special. Pricing is strange, needs a set price lunch!!

Had a wonderful night out at The Basement curry night last night. Great bunch of friends, lovely company and amazing authentic curry's with friendly service. If you haven't been yet there's one night left on the 27th. Book now or miss out

Great place for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Never had a bad meal, staff are so friendly, helpful and provide a very good gluten free menu. Highly recommend

Great food and excellent service. The monkfish tail curry was fab, as was the turbot and steaks. Half the price, better service and quality of the food an equal to a famous restaurant on the seafront. Looking forward to our next trip to Padstow already

Food was delicious, great location to enjoy views of Padstow Harbour and the staff were fast, efficient and friendly. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area!!

Every year we come to Padstow in April, every year we spend the majority of it at the Basement! This is a great place for Breakfast, can recomend the Full Cornish, great for Coffee and lunch and dinner can recomend this place for all your food needs. Great friendly service and food, make a point of visiting.

Beautiful restaurant, lovely views, the staff were really nice and chatty, also was nice to see the chef who came and said hello. Food was beautiful, the crab was amazing and I even tried an oyster which was delicious, will definitely be returning on my next trip into padstow. ♥️

Went for breakfast, food was mixed - six of us went and 4 had good experience.

Food was fresh and locally sourced, eggs tasty but very small - but very funny which was perfect!



Vegetarian breakfast was nice but a little over expensive seeing as it was only 50p cheaper than the full English and didn't have the bacon or sausages!!!

Had lunch yesterday one fish had to be returned as wasn't cooked through. Many apologies the meal was taken away and replaced with another but of course the rest of party had finished.

The Hake dish when cooked properly was delicious, home made tartare sauce was also. The chips were very bitty. Not many big ones. I felt I had the end of a batch.

We had to ask 3 times for water

Having said all this the service was good the venue is special outside but sheltered in the middle of the town.
