Comfortable rooms, good food, friendly and helpful staff. All this in an area of great natural beauty.

Excellent hotel. We stayed with our dog and 8-week-old baby. We were really impressed with the staff, who accommodated our needs to sit at a table with space for the pram (and dog). They even stored our baby's milk for us. The food was amazing and locally sourced.
Our room was huge (we stayed in one of the lodges). It had everything we needed for our dog and baby there too. Huge bath, huge bed and a sofa to relax on too. We had a great time!

Just had a wonderful overnight dinner bed&breakfast stay at Battlesteads ,a gift from our children for our wedding anniversary. The Lodge room was large & spacious, beautiful comfy bed. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast this morning. All of the staff were very friendly &efficient with lovely smiles which makes a change with some hotel staff!!!!!! Would highly recommend staying at this establishment

We were picked up as promised even though we were a little late. They were ready for that : wall walkers sometimes are. The room was comfortable and spacious. The restaurant was roomy and there was even a place to have a quiet drink and play some cards. The evening meal was up to big city restaurant standards and there was a large selection of beers and wines. Breakfast also hit the spot.

My partner and I booked to go to the observatory on Friday night and had a really enjoyable evening. Mike and Chris are very knowledgeable Astronomy enthusiasts (their words to describe the wealth of knowledge they possess). The talks were interesting and we learned a lot about constellations and galaxies. Even got to see Saturn and its rings which was amazing. Definitely worth a visit. :)

Overpriced accommodations with cheap fittings. Overpriced food with frozen vegetables ( not seasonal as stated). And when I complained at breakfast about a black hair in the strawberry and rose jam none of the Eastern European waiters had enough of a grasp of English to deal with the issue.

The food was outstanding, I wasn't drinking but was told that the beer was very nice Also, very impressed

The hotel has a nice restaurant and a little observatory where public astronomy classes take place.

Astronomy meets Gastronomy. Enjoyed a great stay at Battlesteads Hotel, in one of the Luxury Lodges. Fantastic accommodation, friendly warm atmosphere, welcoming staff and owners. Gourmet food and fine wine, followed by a night viewing the stars, nebulae and galaxies, as only they DSO's can be seen in the dark sky park, through the onsite observatory telescope with informative local astronomer guides. Recommended. Will book again.
