The Belgrave Beefeater

Went with my family for a meal out on a Thursday evening. While there was a little bit of a delay waiting for food (they were quite busy) the service was great and Lauren who served us was really friendly and helpful.



Due to the delay in the desserts arriving we got a complimentary coffee and a 40% off voucher which was a really nice gesture (we were really happy with the service as it was and this was a nice surprise).

This was brilliant we chose this place as my son loves spaghetti bolognaise, however after placing our order we found out they had run out, so the waitress suggested meatball linguini which we accepted, and I have to say my son ate most of it and the service and attention paid to my son was outstanding she only managed to get him to eat his main and also a new dessert which I feel is magnificent. Service throughout my visit was great. She really does need recognising her name was Stacey B

So I'm gonna explain why I felt the need to post my apple pie experience on here.

Earlier on this evening a few things happened that annoyed me, I woke up from a nap feeling grotty, my new top has a stitching issue which peed me off as I was really looking forward to wearing it, they ran out of wedges at the buffet then said they would bring some over and never did and bought our desert over before I was ready. So I'm staring at this apple pie and custard and think this looks good sod the wedges. Take one bite and yuuuuuuuck , they poisoned it with cinnamon! (One thing I can't stand is cinnamon) I wasn't happy and at that point was craving apple pie and custard, the thought wouldn't leave my head I was already thinking what extremes I would go to to get this pie. We tried other restaurants on the resort but all had cinnamon. We went to other hotels but they stopped doing food, we tried a pub but they said it will contain cinnamon! I'm not ready to give up however Aidan Nethercot was, after a major strop and telling him he doesn't understand I told him to piss off back to the hotel. I carry on walking in the windy rain ( the type of windy rain that turns your umbrella inside out) until I come across a beef eater. I asked the waitress if they had apple pie which they did. I then ask the most important question does it contain cinnamon. She got the ingredients book out to look, whilst she was looking I felt my eyes filling up. I was trying so hard not to cry over the fact I had a total melt down and fell out with Aidan over a frickin apple pie! Anyway.... the lady told me no it's doesn't contain cinnamon it was music to my ears and well the tears are absolutely pouring down my cheeks now! She was really worried and said are u okay, I explained everything whilst blubbering (surprised she could understand me) she just looked at me and gave me this look as if to say, we are gonna sort you out! She took me to a table and made me feel so much better about my reaction, told me not to feel silly as it's a woman thing and men do not understand. She brought over the pie and said 'it's on me'. Well I cried even more, her kindest honestly made me more emotional. I felt a total idiot but she was so so lovely, I must have been the talk of the lady staff members as they were all coming up to me and said please don't feel daft, we know how u feel. I thought that might have made me feel worse but actually all of them made me feel so much better! I must have looked like a drowned fat crazy lady but they were so good at making me feel like a normal person. So a big thank you the ladies at beef eater! You are amazing!!!

Service was excellent staff were friendly and polite. Food was delicious and came promptly. We were in Torquay for our 34th wedding anniversary mini break and this was so good we went back the following night x

Loved it both last night and this eve. Staying in the hotel so chose the meal deal. Steak the first night cooked perfectly medium rare. New chicken burger the second night very tasty with a spicy kick. Sophie my server very helpful and made me feel very at ease as I was dining alone. She made great recommendations about what to order. I looking forward to my meal tomorrow eve and trying more of the new menu

As a surprise for a 60th birthday, we spent the weekend in Torquay. Booked a table with yourselves as it was a stagger back to the hotel. We have been to several beefeaters etc and they can be a bit hit and miss, but this particular one was outstanding!

The level of service was absolutely fantastic. The staff catered for every single one of our needs, assisted with balloons, banners etc and nothing was too much. Our waitress, Jodine, was just amazing, I couldn’t rate her highly enough!

Food was excellent, service was phenomenal and we will 110% be back!

All 9 of us commented on how wonderful Jodine had made our evening, therefore we just had to give her a special mention, and thank her for making the birthday a very special and rememberable one! �

We went to Belgrave Beefeater for our works Christmas meal. The service we received from the waiting staff was great. They couldn't do enough for us. Quality of the meals good although some people's meals were better than others, as we all chose something different. But a great way to start our Christmas celebrations. Thank you.

This was the second time that I'd been here and on both occasions the service was excellent. The food was exactly what we'd ordered. We didn't have to wait long for the food once we'd ordered it. The waitress was attentive without being intrusive.

We went here as a treat on the last night of our stay in Torquay after booking into the restaurant 07/07/17.My husband and son had a mixed grill and I had a surf and turf .Once we ordered we waited 30 minutes for our meals which were ok but nothing special .Our waiting on staff was a young lad very pleasant but could never be found as he kept going off - I am aware that each server has there own area and stays within that area but we found it frustrating .On clearing our dishes -eventually -he asked if we would like the desert menu so we said yes but was still waiting 20 mins after so I asked a server off another area for one as once again he had disappeared .If we were here in this area again we wouldn't return .

We tried this Beefeater instead of the one in Newton Abbot as we have been disappointed in the steak there, anyway I ordered a 8oz Sirloin medium what I received was an over cooked steak . More often than not my steak is never cooked the way I request, my husband's steak is always cooked the way he wants. I would think a steak and grill place would know how to cook medium steaks .

The food portion was more like a starter size, I had the meatballs there were 5 very tiny meatballs with 2 small pieces of bread I asked for a little more cheese on top as it was non existent on my meal, the waitress said she would have to charge extra which I didn't want to do. We waited 20 minutes for desert the only thing that saved the meal was the food tasted ok ish I wouldn't rush back.

Well what can I say sat waiting for our order for almost an hour when it arrived the four plates of food were not what we hoped for all dishes were cold or tepid we sent back two meals which were re presented warmer but by no means HOT!

The rib eye was overdone the fillet also over done sorry chef back to college for you I think.

We were offered a round of drinks but declined.

The evening already ruined we were to come here for breakfast but not now definitely not a great experience no tip no stars no return by us.

£90+ hard earned cash wasted

Tried to get a table at 5:15 this evening only to be told by the host that they were full until 8:45. Had a lovely meal at a restaurant nearby and noticed that on our way home the restaurant had lots and lots of empty tables. Why turn away business? Won’t bother trying again.

Staff had no time for you our food came out wrong I paid for the best stake in the house a 16oz and only to find that 8oz of it was fat and grissel all the food order was wrong spent £100 pluss and the staff couldn't care less if you are the food or not I had to repeat my self 3 times just to place the order would definitely not recommend this place what a big waist of our money

Normally this beefeater is quite good but after my birthday on saturday me and my family wont be returning. Food wasnt cooked correctly and 5 times food was sent back. Got in at 9 for table and didnt leave till gone 11 due to so many mistakes being made. Kitchen staff didnt seem to take the blame for poorly cooked food and blamed waitress. The waitress was very nice and helpful i think her name was 'alex'. Me and my guests all felt terrible for her as she was doing her best and was a lovely girl. Manager didnt even bother to come over to apolgise didnt even seem bothered. Were refunded for two meals in the end but the whole experience was very bad

Me and my husband travel to Torquay about 3 to 4 times a year and always stay at the premiere inn and always have a drink and food in the bar at the Beefeater. But never again will we order food from here. After ordering a paprika chicken meal and a gammon meal I went to get cutlery and sauces ect and there was no mustard. So tried to ask the young girl behind the bar if she had some. She took her time to answer as she was too busy standing flirting to two men at the bar. And giving out discounted drinks off her staff discount.she finally answered no they hadn't for none and I asked if the restaurant would have some and she relied no and went back to her flirting.

When the meals finally came out(about 45 mins) my husband asked for and mustard and she said yes she would fetch some. So proved barmaid wasn't interested in helping a customer.

Both of the meals were barely warm and both the chicken and gammon was dried up. My husband took both meals to the bar to a lady who obviously had something better to do. When he explained she then....touched each bit of food on the plate to then declare that they were fine and hot.

My husband then asked if he was expected to eat the food now she had mauled it and she said yh as its fine. My husband asked for a refund which we got. We ended upordeing a pizza which was delivered on a moped in the cold weather from Torquay and was pipng hot.

So maybe the Beefeater chefs need to go and see how it's possible to serve up hot food.

If the chefs that you employ can't put together a simple meal (which s overpriced) then it's time for retraining as is the bar staff that are virtually giving drinks away to certain guests.

Absolutely hated it. Food was disgusting. Overcooked and dry. The bar staff who served us was unhelpful and kept blaming me for not ordering in the correct way???i.e. didnt say at beginning of kids order i wanted drinks....didnt think i needed to as it said drinks included in kids menu. Kids had the steak which looked like a piece of leather. My steak was dry too and my husband's pasta looked like it had been reheated. Gross wont be recommending or visiting again.

Me and my husband travel to Torquay about 3 to 4 times a year and always stay at the premiere inn and always have a drink and food in the bar at the Beefeater. But never again will we order food from here. After ordering a paprika chicken meal and a gammon meal I went to get cutlery and sauces ect and there was no mustard. So tried to ask the young girl behind the bar if she had some. She took her time to answer as she was too busy standing flirting to two men at the bar. And giving out discounted drinks off her staff discount.she finally answered no they hadn't for none and I asked if the restaurant would have some and she relied no and went back to her flirting.

When the meals finally came out(about 45 mins) my husband asked for and mustard and she said yes she would fetch some. So proved barmaid wasn't interested in helping a customer.

Both of the meals were barely warm and both the chicken and gammon was dried up. My husband took both meals to the bar to a lady who obviously had something better to do. When he explained she then....touched each bit of food on the plate to then declare that they were fine and hot.

My husband then asked if he was expected to eat the food now she had mauled it and she said yh as its fine. My husband asked for a refund which we got. We ended upordeing a pizza which was delivered on a moped in the cold weather from Torquay and was pipng hot.

So maybe the Beefeater chefs need to go and see how it's possible to serve up hot food.

If the chefs that you employ can't put together a simple meal (which s overpriced) then it's time for retraining as is the bar staff that are virtually giving drinks away to certain guests.

Absolutely hated it. Food was disgusting. Overcooked and dry. The bar staff who served us was unhelpful and kept blaming me for not ordering in the correct way???i.e. didnt say at beginning of kids order i wanted drinks....didnt think i needed to as it said drinks included in kids menu. Kids had the steak which looked like a piece of leather. My steak was dry too and my husband's pasta looked like it had been reheated. Gross wont be recommending or visiting again.

Due to the delay in the desserts arriving we got a complimentary coffee and a 40% off voucher which was a really nice gesture (we were really happy with the service as it was and this was a nice surprise).

This was brilliant we chose this place as my son loves spaghetti bolognaise, however after placing our order we found out they had run out, so the waitress suggested meatball linguini which we accepted, and I have to say my son ate most of it and the service and attention paid to my son was outstanding she only managed to get him to eat his main and also a new dessert which I feel is magnificent. So I'm gonna explain why I felt the need to post my apple pie experience on here.

Earlier on this evening a few things happened that annoyed me, I woke up from a nap feeling grotty, my new top has a stitching issue which peed me off as I was really looking forward to wearing it, they ran out of wedges at the buffet then said they would bring some over and never did and bought our desert over before I was ready. So I'm staring at this apple pie and custard and think this looks good sod the wedges. Take one bite and yuuuuuuuck , they poisoned it with cinnamon! (One thing I can't stand is cinnamon) I wasn't happy and at that point was craving apple pie and custard, the thought wouldn't leave my head I was already thinking what extremes I would go to to get this pie. We tried other restaurants on the resort but all had cinnamon. We went to other hotels but they stopped doing food, we tried a pub but they said it will contain cinnamon! I'm not ready to give up however Aidan Nethercot was, after a major strop and telling him he doesn't understand I told him to piss off back to the hotel. I carry on walking in the windy rain ( the type of windy rain that turns your umbrella inside out) until I come across a beef eater. I asked the waitress if they had apple pie which they did. I then ask the most important question does it contain cinnamon. She got the ingredients book out to look, whilst she was looking I felt my eyes filling up. I was trying so hard not to cry over the fact I had a total melt down and fell out with Aidan over a frickin apple pie! Anyway.... the lady told me no it's doesn't contain cinnamon it was music to my ears and well the tears are absolutely pouring down my cheeks now! She was really worried and said are u okay, I explained everything whilst blubbering (surprised she could understand me) she just looked at me and gave me this look as if to say, we are gonna sort you out! She took me to a table and made me feel so much better about my reaction, told me not to feel silly as it's a woman thing and men do not understand. She brought over the pie and said 'it's on me'. Well I cried even more, her kindest honestly made me more emotional. I felt a total idiot but she was so so lovely, I must have been the talk of the lady staff members as they were all coming up to me and said please don't feel daft, we know how u feel. I thought that might have made me feel worse but actually all of them made me feel so much better! I must have looked like a drowned fat crazy lady but they were so good at making me feel like a normal person. So a big thank you the ladies at beef eater! You are amazing!!!

Service was excellent staff were friendly and polite. Food was delicious and came promptly. We were in Torquay for our 34th wedding anniversary mini break and this was so good we went back the following night x

Loved it both last night and this eve. Staying in the hotel so chose the meal deal. Steak the first night cooked perfectly medium rare. New chicken burger the second night very tasty with a spicy kick. Sophie my server very helpful and made me feel very at ease as I was dining alone. She made great recommendations about what to order. I looking forward to my meal tomorrow eve and trying more of the new menu

As a surprise for a 60th birthday, we spent the weekend in Torquay. Booked a table with yourselves as it was a stagger back to the hotel. We have been to several beefeaters etc and they can be a bit hit and miss, but this particular one was outstanding!

The level of service was absolutely fantastic. The staff catered for every single one of our needs, assisted with balloons, banners etc and nothing was too much. Our waitress, Jodine, was just amazing, I couldn’t rate her highly enough!

Food was excellent, service was phenomenal and we will 110% be back!

All 9 of us commented on how wonderful Jodine had made our evening, therefore we just had to give her a special mention, and thank her for making the birthday a very special and rememberable one! �

We went to Belgrave Beefeater for our works Christmas meal. The service we received from the waiting staff was great. They couldn't do enough for us. Quality of the meals good although some people's meals were better than others, as we all chose something different. But a great way to start our Christmas celebrations. Thank you.

We went here as a treat on the last night of our stay in Torquay after booking into the restaurant 07/07/17.My husband and son had a mixed grill and I had a surf and turf .Once we ordered we waited 30 minutes for our meals which were ok but nothing special .Our waiting on staff was a young lad very pleasant but could never be found as he kept going off - I am aware that each server has there own area and stays within that area but we found it frustrating .On clearing our dishes -eventually -he asked if we would like the desert menu so we said yes but was still waiting 20 mins after so I asked a server off another area for one as once again he had disappeared .If we were here in this area again we wouldn't return .

We tried this Beefeater instead of the one in Newton Abbot as we have been disappointed in the steak there, anyway I ordered a 8oz Sirloin medium what I received was an over cooked steak . More often than not my steak is never cooked the way I request, my husband's steak is always cooked the way he wants. I would think a steak and grill place would know how to cook medium steaks .

The food portion was more like a starter size, I had the meatballs there were 5 very tiny meatballs with 2 small pieces of bread I asked for a little more cheese on top as it was non existent on my meal, the waitress said she would have to charge extra which I didn't want to do. We waited 20 minutes for desert the only thing that saved the meal was the food tasted ok ish I wouldn't rush back.

Well what can I say sat waiting for our order for almost an hour when it arrived the four plates of food were not what we hoped for all dishes were cold or tepid we sent back two meals which were re presented warmer but by no means HOT!

The rib eye was overdone the fillet also over done sorry chef back to college for you I think.

We were offered a round of drinks but declined.

The evening already ruined we were to come here for breakfast but not now definitely not a great experience no tip no stars no return by us.

£90+ hard earned cash wasted

Tried to get a table at 5:15 this evening only to be told by the host that they were full until 8:45. Had a lovely meal at a restaurant nearby and noticed that on our way home the restaurant had lots and lots of empty tables. Why turn away business? Won’t bother trying again.

Staff had no time for you our food came out wrong I paid for the best stake in the house a 16oz and only to find that 8oz of it was fat and grissel all the food order was wrong spent £100 pluss and the staff couldn't care less if you are the food or not I had to repeat my self 3 times just to place the order would definitely not recommend this place what a big waist of our money

Got in at 9 for table and didnt leave till gone 11 due to so many mistakes being made. Kitchen staff didnt seem to take the blame for poorly cooked food and blamed waitress. The waitress was very nice and helpful i think her name was 'alex'. Me and my guests all felt terrible for her as she was doing her best and was a lovely girl. Manager didnt even bother to come over to apolgise didnt even seem bothered. Were refunded for two meals in the end but the whole experience was very bad
