Who is The Bookkeeper? Jimmy Cutthroat’s right hand man is somewhat of a mystery. Not always seen, and not always heard, but always around to ensure the booze is flowing and the law is kept out of The Blind Librarian. He draws his inspiration from books, from the real world of the Prohibition and from his love of a good tipple. He is the mastermind behind our creative cocktail menus and is always listening to his guests. The Pineapple Express
60ml plantation Pineapple Rum 10ml Sugar Syrup 20ml Fresh Lime Juice... 8 Grilled Pineapple Cubes 3-4 Fresh Mint Leaves
Muddle the Grilled Pineapple Cubes, then add the Fresh Mint muddling gently. Add in all the other ingredients and shake.
Pour over ice in a tumbler and garnish with Grilled Pineapple and fresh Mint.

Prosecco Poppins
Prosecco is so naughties, take it back to the Prohibition with a little help from Jimmy and The Bookkeeper. A miniature hamper of prosecco’s best friends, syrups and garnishes to add a little something to your glass and your experience at The Blind Librarian.

You may notice that we don't serve our cocktails with straws or stock them on our bar. Why? We hear you ask... well let me tell you.
Drinking a cocktail takes, on average, 20 minutes to enjoy (not for Jimmy Cutthroat ha) but it can take more than 200 years for a plastic straw to decompose. Millions of straws are used every day around the world. Many of these are used for just a few minutes, then are simply thrown away. In fact plastic straws are one of the top 10 items found... in beach clean ups
In the ocean, plastic does not biodegrade. Instead it just breaks down into smaller pieces over hundreds of years, and it’s impossible to clean up. With up to 12 million tonnes of plastic clogging up the oceans every year, it’s no wonder wildlife is facing the brunt of the impacts.
Not only are straws made from fossil fuels (which unnecessarily contributes to climate change) but they are also completely unnecessary for most people!
So next time you come to The Blind Librarian and wonder why you can't see any straws, keep that in mind. We continually work towards sustainability. -The Bookkeeper

We haven't a name for this one, but when challenged to make a strawberries and cream cocktail but no vodka Jimmy and the Gang jumped to it!
Bayou spiced rum, Monin strawberry syrup, Vanilla liqueur, Fresh lemon juice, Fresh cranberry juice, Egg white and Muddled strawberries.
Garnished with slices strawberries.

Jimmy and The Bookkeeper have overseen every cocktail creation that has made it into our menus, and there really is something for everyone. Honey, Raspberry, Chocolate, Chilli.... we have an array of infused spirits, garnishes and syrups to create some of the most luscious and unique cocktails around. If there’s nothing on the menu that takes your fancy (although we highly doubt that would happen), tell us what you like and we’ll shake something up!

What a gem - such a quirky place! Loved the ambience. A real change from the usual drinking establishments! The platters were generous and great quality, and the cocktails were refreshingly unique. Really clever idea!

We had a fabulous time at the Blind Librarian. What a wonderful idea, a step back in time! The staff are friendly and welcoming, the cocktails are wonderful and the platters were so big we couldn't finish them. Loved it!

Spend the best part of 3 hours here and loved every moment! We had several espresso martinis and they were utterly Devine. 10/10 from me. We also consumed the festive 3 wise men drink. Not for the faint hearted. Delicious all the same. Visiting here is a must if you’re around the Bawtry area. Easy 5*

Our favourite place ever to drink! Such a special unique place - what an experience!! There's nothing else quite like it. Staff are brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. Sat in here now enjoying gin, whiskey & the lovely cheese board for my partners 25th birthday! We love this place so much!!!

Fantastic night. Arranged a gin tasting for a number of friends and Aimee was nothing but brilliant from the first contact. The gin was lovely with just enough explanation as to what they were and how the tasted without feeling like we were at school. I could not get bored of the bar itself. There is always something to look at, notice or as a discussion point. Wonderful in its entirety.

Came here with my close and personal friends, read some average reviews before and I don’t understand as this is FANTASTIC. Drinks are worth the price and the atmosphere was great. If you are wanting an experience then I would recommend it 100%

Came for afternoon tea and cocktails yesterday - wow! The food and drinks were amazing but the venue... it’s unbelievable! Managed to find the mastermind behind it all and had a chat about how it all came about. I’d recommend this hidden gem to anyone wanting the perfect balance of crazy eclectic wonderland with the most amazing cocktail menu I’ve seen in time! Loved the whole experience! Booking again already! Staff were fantastic too.

Visit TBL yesterday to celebrate my birthday with 7 other people on a package deal and wanted to upgrade some drinks and agreed on a price, once the bill arrived the price was altered, but we had checked twice with the staff before ordering it was very disappointing and ruined the experience, the manager then was saying she wouldn’t have agreed that price but her staff member did and as we was the paying customers felt unimpressed with professionalism discussing the bill in front of other guests, the place is quirky in charm and the only reason why I haven’t scored lower but this experience wasn’t what I wanted to have for a celebration and won’t be going back and won’t be promoting to anyone else.
