Why teacups? During the prohibition, liquor was often served in teacups to disguise the illegal content for a harmless cup of tea.
We also serve sharing teapot cocktails. These are available for up to 4 people.

Sun is shining which means only one thing. It's gin o'clock so why not pop down and try our ramble. Simple balance of sweet and sour.

User

Why settle for the same old boring food. Tapas menu served Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm

User

What can I say? Cake - good, tapas - good, gin - GOOD!!! Faultless!! Lovely staff, great ambience and so wonderfully quirky! Favourite place in Whitby!!

User

What a lovely place. Just visited with my husband, 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter both children really enjoyed it. Great choice of food and dog friendly too

User

We visited last Sunday for the first time, we'd passed it every time we went to Whitby but just didn't go in. I had tea and cake, the cake was lovely and the tea was exceptional. It's been many years since I'd drank loose leaf tea from a teapot with a strainer and I enjoyed it so much I came home and bought a China cup and saucer, a teapot and tea strainer and some loose leaf Yorkshire tea. Thank you for helping me re-live childhood memories. The service was great the chip butty was huge and even going to the loo was in theme. Great little place and we will be back. It might be worth perhaps offering gluten free cake and bread or crumpets which can be frozen, not the cake tho lol.

User

Walked past one evening and was intreguied so came back the next day, we enquired about the afternoon tea which was supposed to be pre ordered but as it was quiet they did us a lovely afternoon tea. The place was gorgeous really relaxed staff were engaging and helpful. We decided to book for the following evening for the tapas and we were not disappointed! Gorgeous evening, great atmosphere, loved it. We was offered the table for the night and to order food as and when, everything was delicious. Well worth it!

User

Stopped in for a drink and enjoyed the wartime decor and PMJ soundtrack whilst sipping a gin so much we returned in the morning to sample the breakfast menu. The Blitz Breakfast is hearty, delicious and excellent value for money. A little gem of a place. Will definitely be back.

User

Lovely welcome when we arrived. What a great place. Lovely atmosphere, lovely food, lovely music. An experience not to be missed.

User

Lovely place to come in the evening. Food is so tasty, good selection of tapas and drinks. good service too. Highly recommended.

User

Just eaten here from the tapas menu... great food, great service, well priced. Take the staffs advice and start with 4 dishes between the 2 of you and go from there. Everything we had was delicious and well presented. We'll definitely be back

User

I put this review on trip advisor recently Called here when staying at accommodation nearby and were intrigued by the décor (think wartime nostalgia). We ordered Tuna Cheese Melt, pint of beer, and glass of wine. The service was friendly and efficient and it is not just dog tolerant it is properly dog welcoming with our pooch being offered water and dog biscuits. It was very reasonably priced and the Tuna Cheese melt was beautifully presented and a very hearty Yorkshire portion size.

We understand that a Tapas style menu is served some evenings and it looked very interesting and again reasonably priced. .

We talked to Julie about the self catering apartment (Chartwell Retreat) located above The Blitz and she immediately offered us an opportunity to view it. We were completely taken with it and we are booking up for a long weekend before too long.

User

Great little cafe tucked away ...great music and all round atmosphere is pre-war and works ...just wish I had the crab sandwich coffee was lovely and my wife is a tea fan and loved the Yorkshire offering.

User

Great food, so tasty and a great change from the many pubs. Well dressed for its theme and the staff were precisely friendly enough without being intrusive. Definitely one to return to and an easy recommendation.

User

Excellent little find very nostalgic food was lovely big portions. Even going to the toilet you felt you where going into air raid bumper.

Only one thing I would change but does not change my review as this was fab - staff go the whole hog and make your uniform from the same era would be great.

User

Can we give you 6 stars? The quality of the food was brilliant, home cooked, and in decent portions. The quiches were perfect! Plenty of salad, and we recommend the loaded chips with cheese and bacon as a side, we shared a bowl. My boyfriend got a brownie as we paid at the counter, tasted rich and didn't make it out of the shop, again homemade, a little higher than the average price but worth it. The service matched the food, both members of staff we spoke with were lovely, chatty and friendly. Great atmosphere, music and decor in the place too. Overall a brilliant visit, and we hope to return next time we come up. :)

User

Been to Whitby many times but never come across this quirky cafe before. Called in and was greeted by a male member of staff who was very friendly and welcoming. Great experience from start to finish. Ordered two of the home made scones which were delicious!! The owner/ chef went out of her way to ask how everything was and made our experience that little bit more personal. Can’t wait to come back to Whitby to try their tapas which looks delicious! Would recommend to anyone who is visiting this lovely place!!

User

Ate at The Blitz on 30 December, had seen the coffee shop/tapas bar on previous visits to Whitby. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but the food was great, the service from the staff was excellent too. Will be definitely going again the next time we visit, which is February.

User

Always my go to cafe when I go to Whitby. Excellent food, proper leaf tea and a great atmosphere. Was there last Friday with my Mum and always made to feel really welcome. Just because you're in Whitby doesn't mean it has to be fish and chips, you've got to try The Blitz!

User

A lovely old tea shop. A refreshing change from the fish and chip/burger places. Had a lovely mocha. Pleasant staff and atmosphere.

User

A fantastic lunch with you today in amazing surroundings and the whitebait was delicious too - many thanks

User

Second visit to the blitz for tapas on 21st Oct family of 4 we ordered 7 dishes soon realised wouldn’t be enough so ordered an extra 3 which came soon after

The ribs were delicious as was the Spanish stew and our favourite the chilli prawns

Only downside is it’s a tad expensive our bill was £107 which inc a bottle of wine and soft drinks for the children

Good food though and we received good service also
